At one time I had four cats. I had removable sort of mat things to put on the sofa and chairs. I could take them off if people visited. I think my clothes suffered more than the furniture - I had to have special scruffy clothes to wear at home. My black choir dress suffered even so. I spent hours brushing it.

We have cat hair problems and only one cat.  Mind you, white cat hair does show up really well on more a less everything!
At least he's much improved now.

I used to have 2 black cats but wore a lot of dark-coloured clothes so the hairs weren't too much of a problem. Now, with 4 predominantly white-haired cats, our clothes are always covered in hairs - especially the kids' black school uniform. I've given up caring. Try telling kids not to cuddle their cats till they've changed out of their black trousers, jumpers and blazers...
We'd get through an awful lot of Sellotape removing those hairs every day but that's quite a good method.

Merely corroborative detail, intended to give artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative.
