Congratulations John and Mrs John!

If you get started now, you will be able to play Brahms' lullaby on your violin in 9 months  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Wink

A Grin

Now, A, that IS a challenge, especially as there's only 7 months to go!  Shocked

It also struck me John that next time to have to contend with the kids' loud TV and x-boxes you could simply have your violin wired up to a PA system and let them have it-after all they might well decide you are a rock god.

Whee mb, I'd have to get pretty nifty on the fiddle to entertain any kids.

I did get pretty hot on the recorder a few decades ago graduating from Jethro Tull numbers to arrangements of Thin Lizzy and Deep Purple numbers; suddenly it became embarrassing and I stopped  Cheesy

I have to say I was thinking more strategic intimidation than entertainment-my singing has worked in a similar way at times as a last resort. But ere long I'm sure you'll wow tem into the bargain. The Jethro Tull thing would require a bit of acrobatics wouldnt it?

I didn't go for the standing-on-one-leg thing of Ian Anderson, if that's what you mean  Cheesy

My mother had a favourite expression (shared by many mums, I'd imagine) that "Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves". She was right (as mums always are!) Today, after a big tidy-up over the past week, I finally got fed up of the glass jar full of coins sitting in my bedroom...well, it started as a saucer, grew into a plastic pot and became the jar. Sainsbury's have a contraption I'd never used before - it sorts your coins and issues a receipt which you can use to claim your money instore. Marvellous! Well, you could have knocked me down with a feather.... over £60!!! I feel a visit to HMV could well be in order!  Grin

Sounds like a good idea IGI!! Or on the wwws!! You will have to tell us what you bought!!

I have a long wait to here about some news.

I have written quite a few arrangmements of music for brass band some years ago.

To cut a long story short, Black Dyke Band have begun a project called 'Classic Brass', where they will feature music of major composers. they have started with Elgar, with Sir Colin Davis guest conducting.

My brain cells started to work(hmmm what), and so the MD of the band, who remembered me from sometime back, said yes he be happy to conduct them at a 'repertoire' rehearsal before the summer break. So I sent them up, and waiting till then to see what will transpire.

BTW, the pieces were the 'Four Sea Interludes' from PG, and Shosta's Symphony no.5, the whole of the last movement.

As promised a pic of my son's new Polydactyl kitten.  I'm very tempted to get one myself but better not all things considered.
