I may even begin at the beginning.
How many cities/towns did Donald Mitchell write the introduction in this time? Philip Reed wrote the Introduction this time, tinners, in Orford (Suffolk) . Not nearly as exotic as DM, who is still on the editorial team, but must be pretty old by now. And welcome back from me, too

Oh, Philip Reed's quite good, isn't he? That's good news: I can be doing without Donald Mitchell and his train-wreck sentence structure (I'd find it more forgivable if he actually seemed to have anything to say ...).
DM's not that old, though: 70ish, maybe? I was once in a symposium where he got very annoyed with Robin Holloway for suggesting that Owen Wingrave might contain a little bit of homoeroticism alongside the pacifism. DM apoplexed away (is that a verb?!) and jangled his keys in his pocket even more than usual.

The city is a process which always veers away from the form envisaged and desired, ... whose revenge upon its architects and planners undoes every dream of mastery. It is [also] one of the sites where Dasein is assigned the impossible task of putting right what can never be put right. - Rob Lapsley

Even if only neologistically, so it would seem, Tisnow. Very pleasant to see you back with us - I was remarking on your absence only yesterday.

He was born 1925 - I looked it up. He's 83. I was once in a symposium where he got very annoyed with Robin Holloway for suggesting that Owen Wingrave might contain a little bit of homoeroticism alongside the pacifism. That's rather typical, I think! I shall adopt apoplexed as a verb. I like it.

Lovely day here after the torrential rain of yesterday. Hopefully the gardeners will be able to speed on with the job. They're supposed to finish tomorrow. I wish all on here a happy day and can think of no better blessing for you all than this one I heard the other day.... "May the forces of evil become confused on the way to your house." I love that!

apoplected?
does that also mean we have to countenance 'epilepted' and 'ataracted' and 'orthodocted' and 'anorected'
does the application of a thick glue (epoxy) necessitate the verb 'epocted' ?
I think not. There is no verb for apoplexy.

not YET, perhaps... (I would probably have gone for apoplected but that lacks the sexiness of an 'x'... )

There is no verb for apoplexy. The O.E.D. differs, although it is admittedly marked "arch.": apoplex, v: to strike with apoplexy, paralyze, benumb Byron: "If suddenly apoplexed, would he rest in his grave?" Shakespeare (Hamlet): "Sure, that sense is apoplex'd." Heywood: "To apoplex all the vitall spirits."

As usual! Unfortunately as he's been cut off we can't ring and congratulate him in Oriental Oz.
