My goodness, a top brass band playing something that I've arranged!

That's exciting news indeed, bbm. Congratulations.

I dont know wether you people outn there remember me saying about having a couple of my arrangements for brass band being played by the world famous Black Dyke Band? Well, they had a session with them. The Professional Conductor of the band, Nick Childs, replied to me tody, saying that the band had a session, so thats good enough for me!! My goodness, a top brass band playing something that I've arranged!

I await the next step, when they will include them in one of their concerts but not just yet. I expect with bands like that, they have a certain amount organised well in advance.........

.....watch this space!!

That's fantastic news, BBM.  Many congratulations.

OOOOOH !! BBM, you're nearly famous!

Do you think we should reveal to the others that we had a mini-meet-up?   Shocked

It was fun meeting BBM and Mrs BBM and their very nice friend.....in a village pub up on Bodmin moor.

We're going to meet up again next week during their hols - yippee!

x Jan x

Yeah, why not!! Great night, yeah? Rather surreal with the mist milling around!!
Fantastic food to!!

Thanks one and  all for your contgrats to me. I will indeed let you all know when, I hope(!), when the band will perform my arrangements. I sent them Finale from Symphony No.5(Shostakovich) and Four Sea Interludes from PG(Britten). Dont worry about the copyright, as I have that sorted from B & H.

Congratulations BBM! I expect you to march with chin up and chest out for at least a week!
The Sea Interludes have always been a particular fave of mine, having grown up not far from Aldeburgh and spent some memorable times there.

Thanks KB and Marbs. 'Dawn', was'nt to hard really. 'Sunday  Morning', was a bit tricky. I loved doing the 'Storm' movt though. The Shosta was a challenge all the way. It would be interesting to see the US wind band arrangement. Another piece I would love to do, would be from the Schoenberg transcriptions of the big Bach Prelude & Fugue in Eb(I know Eric Ball made one for bb of the Fugue), the other one be the last movement of the Piano Quartet, op34(?), the 'Rondo alla Zingarese'.

'Sun am'was what I meant-late night in hospital, apols. I guess flugel on the harp line, but high up in the original and nippy. Anyway, just the sort of modern standard rep that a bb needs to show can be done and its audiences need to familiarise to be ready for new original work-maybe you'll venture down that path too sometime?

Trying to be more physically active.  Have made at least an attempt at physical activity every day for the past month-and-a-bit.  (Indeed, just in from my 'morning run' now).
