As of a week Friday, I am full time! And I've just had my first performance outside of the UK! (Lovesongs played by students of the Darmstadt Ferienkurse at the Orangerie, Darmstadt, 19/07/08)
Well there you go, hh, two grand gobs of news. And who cares how the flat looks, anyway?

And I even got booed! (albeit briefly) Friends said that it was the first time that they'd ever seen the boos acknowledged before the applause...

And well done from me too!! We have really missed your recipes hh! Some future NOMNESS is required as a matter of urgency!
Well not much NOM has occurred over in Darmstadt over the last fortnight. Pickled vegetables have never been my favourite. The word 'fortnight' always makes me happy. Welcome to the HAPPY ROOM!

Merely corroborative detail, intended to give artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative.

I am back.
What do you mean, Ron, you didn't know I'd been away? Today I have had a family seaside outing to Southwold, which I think must be the least trashy seaside resort within easy reach of the necropolis. Indeed it is not at all trashy. Passing through some of the villages on the way I was reminded that a growing part of me (that's enough tittering Mr Thompson) is hankering after something other than city life. I don't think it's going to happen in the forseeable future though. Besides which the Suffolk coast is no place for a composer, as everyone knows.
As the rugby song goes, if you can't get booed in Darmstadt you'll never get booed at all.
I'll get me blazer.

Yes indeedy marbs: he's actually performed it at least once before with the BBCPhil, quite possibly more (I can vouch for one broadcast, and strongly suspect a second lurking in the archives here). This showed evidence of detailed rehearsal all over the place (although I suspect a dep. clarinet got very lost somewhere). As you say, beautifully paced, with much more sense of direction than the Colin Davis/NYPO broadcast last November: much more sense of an emotional journey, too.
