As far as I can recall, Y-P T has only ever done the 4th - which is the one most often done by non-British conductors: Mitropoulos, Bernstein and Solti all had very successful stabs at it, although they never touched any of the other symphonies, and Berglund has only done one other (6) as well. That's aside from the non-Brits who have done complete cycles, of course: Previn, Slatkin and Haitink. I'm not convinced that Y-P T has the temperament for the whole cycle, but then I'm not convinced that any conductor has yet quite managed all of them with equal success.

The only VW's I have are by Royal Liverpool with Vernon Handley (boxed set).  Will have to LA to tonights broadcast.  It's sometimes difficult (as IRF says) not to fall behind on the programmes.

I've not heard the Norrington Elgar 1 yet, although it's sitting on an HD, Anty: nor have I yet quite got round to sorting your NKQ out. Will get there eventually....

Well, to be honest Ron.  If it's not dim problemio, and a toss up between the two, I think I would rather have the Norrington than the Nige.  Having listened to the Nige a few times ........ I have quite a bit of Norrington Beethoven.  Will have to check on what else of his I have.

Just had another couple of chocs from the box sent to me by sister (as a slightly late birthday present) from this company:

I love sweetcorn on the cob, going to buy it next time I go to the supermarket.

I finally can appear in happy room. have a lunch time concert tomorrow playing with the violin: Schumann Sonata, Suk two pieces and short pieces (Albeniz, Tchaikovsky). My violinist wants to addision for orchestra and this is what one plays for aditions. He is a good chap and is interesting to play with. We are going to have people that don't go for classical music, many don't like it and children that are learning to sit in a concerthall.

Anyway, I just wanted to pop up here, to see how you all doing  and to say all of you I love you. I am still not 100 %, but feeling better. I hope tomorrow is going to be ok.

thank you, all. I just want to share with you that I wish I was a better pianist. I am finding my limitations lately. When I was young I did not know. May be if I had more opportunities to be with good professionals I could be good, I thought. I can see my limitations more now. Of course one should not compare himself with top people in profession.
It is not good to say that I wish I had more intellect, better abilities etc, etc, etc.

May be there is a place for every one in the world, and for such an imperfect creatures like myself.

I am in a Happy room because I have many things to be grateful for. I am so happy to have met you on this board. You helped me to get through hard time, you gave me a lot.
