The concert went well and we are pleased (the violinst and myself are pleased). We had good audience. The youngsters were on their best behaviour.

Dear Kitty, you have such amazing grandson. He probably has good ears.

John, My violinist told me that for the first fifteen years he sounded awful. That takes a lot of perseverance to keep playing even if it sounds bad. It takes a long time to learn an instrument.
Many people prefer to sing in a chorus, but I for some reason don't like to sing.

I am gald your concert went well to t-p.

I do hope you intended "I am glad your concert went well too, t-p", and not "I am galled your concert went well to t-p", bbm. Wink

I did not noticed the word was misspelled and understood it correctly. Computer notices all mistakes, but not humans (especially me).

It is so important to play with good musicians (musicians on your level or even better). I noticed that good partners make me play better and understand what I am doing better. The bad ones will drag me down.

To play with a good instrumentalist is such a joy. I hope brassmaestro practice goes well. After a break in practice it is important to understand that one can not become perfect right away. I hope you will be patient with yourself. May be you will get yourself to practice regularly (not long, but regularly).

I found that as well. My playing seems to go up a couple of notches or so when I am with others of a higher standard. It just seems so natural.

Whooppeee!!! My report has about half an hour's work left in it, if that (the early start was worth it) and I can now really justify the long lunch break to go and hear I Fagiolini at Cadogan Hall.

Congratulation, Ruth. I love the feeling of getting close to the end of a project.

Thank you, tp.  Of course having got back from the (very enjoyable) concert, I have been hit with not only a barrage of last-minute amendments  Roll Eyes but also a couple of things that need to be done urgently on behalf of my boss (who's on holiday).  Ah well, I'm still happy, I'm still going to get out of here in time for this evening's Beethoven/Carter Prom, and it's a nice short one too, so I should get a reasonably early night even after doing the collection and visiting the bar Smiley

I am so glad for you. It is great feeling to acomplish things and look forward to a good concert, and to come home to have a good rest. It makes me happy too. I am sitting here, smiling for you.  Kiss

I am a little happy too today. A young violinist (18) came to play before going to competition. She played Beethoven Spring sonata, Grieg Sonata (I think it is the third) and Mozart concerto. I was in good form to accompany her on a short notice (half sight reading).

Congratulations from me too!  Not been around this weekend as we've been away visiting my oldest friends and having a great time!  Lots of food, good company and snow as well (we went to an indoor ski slope with real snow and did taboggoning)   Grin

But t-p, the bad ones are probably saying about you that you are a good partner who helps them play better and understand what they are doing better.  Don't forget that.  It can feel near to despairing to play with people who you think are dragging you down, but it can lift you up again to think that maybe you can help and inspire them.

I'm in the Happy Room after a brief absence from the boards generally.  I've been away playing with the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra (my first time with them) in a festival in France.  The area was gorgeous, the people friendly - and I had the pleasure of playing the most enjoyable Brandenburg 3 I think I've ever done (so far).  The rehearsals in no way prepared me for how much fun the performance was going to be.  The entire concert (all Bach - first suite and B'burgs 1 and 4 as well) was a joy, but it was B'burg 3 that really made me happy.

I know it's not quite what you meant, T-P, but I have trouble getting computers to notice me too. Sometimes I can sit there in front of it for twenty minutes waiting for it to listen to me, twitching the mouse, tapping the keys.
It's almost as if I'm interrupting something more important, like a virus database update. Never mind the fact that it's me that plugged it into the mains, and me that wakes it up in the morning. And puts it to sleep at night.
