I had one of those pleasant wassits today; some reasonably successful architect has some small mathematical issues he would like me to have a look at.  Always nice when these sorts of opportunities for cross-field interaction come up.

I don't think I understand.
What cross interaction? I can not understand it.

May be this is a kind of an idiom, that is new to me.

Who are pleasant wassits? (It seems to be more than one of them. Are they in a plural form?)
Or you are talking about cross-field between architecture and mathematics?
Then who are wassits? Or is it was sits?

I am not clear about that, but I am not a native speaker.

You have me completely confused, but I am used to that.

It's all right, t-p. I'm a native speaker and I'm confused, too.

Well, as I pm'd to MJ a few days ago, we should really have a 'Cautiously Optimistic But Not Wanting To Tempt Fate' Room for posts like this but...I exchanged contracts today on my new house, so, barring disasters, I'll be moving house on Tuesday! That's right, the day before term begins, how's that for ridiculous timing?!  Shocked  I'm so glad to have been 'on holiday' - at least I've been able to hassle, harangue and hound solicitors, insurance people, estate agents etc. It should have been so much simpler - sellers are moving into rented to enable it to happen in the hols (bless them) and I haven't sold my place yet - but the past few days have been nightmarish!

Anyway, here it is...

My friends even commented, "Look, it comes with a car and a blue sky!"

...and I move on Tuesday! (I'm umming and aahing about whether I'll still be able to make the Berlin Phil Prom that night!!) I have a wonderful removal firm who will pack everything on the morning! All I have to do is get stuff down from the loft, which they're not allowed to enter (H&S).

I'll be offline temporarily - broadband being connected on Saturday - but can log in from school to keep track of any news/ Musical Connections which require my attention!  Tongue

As long as you've already got a ticket and weren't planning to queue, I say go for it, IGI!  As I mentioned in these parts once before, I went to see Opera North's Peter Grimes the day I moved into my flat, and was out every evening that week and almost every evening for the two weeks afterward (including four days in Cardiff for Gergiev's Ring)!

All the best with the move, and I hope to see you at the Berlin Phil concert.  Are you coming to any other Proms?

I have my ticket in my paw now! I very nearly started a thread earlier asking if anyone would like it, but consider I should still be able to make it in time. I've never heard Turangalîla 'in concert' and don't want to miss out on hearing the Berlin Phil too.

Yep - the Rimsky on Friday 5th (of course!), the Saint François d'Assise on Sunday and the Haitkink DSCH10 in the last week.

Also all students were made to go to the country side to harvest potatoes. It was usually done at the beginning of September.
I wish somebody I know could get the idea that plants take more than 6 weeks to bear ripe fruit, and potatoes are best left in the ground until at least September. Having planted a bunch of spuds that were past useful but sprouting enthusiastically they had about six weeks rest in the soil before he tore them up and complained that they weren't producing! (And this was about the end of July!!)

Cat walked over my computer keyboard and I haven't been able to sort it until today....happily it is now working again!

The facial I had the other day was gorgeous, by the way.Another reason to be happy.

Just popping in briefly to say that I'm off to the Algarve tomorrow afternoon, and probably won't be online much till next Friday (although I expect I'll be popping in and out of here for a few hours yet to distract me from packing and finishing some odds and ends of work).

Good luck to IGI for his move and hope you all have a lovely week - play nicely. Kiss I'll try to bring some photos back with me: apparently it's 25 degrees and more out there so I may even have a tan when I see the London members the week after next. Grin
