Phew!    I've just spent an hour with my technical guru, of long-standing, agreeing a set of renovation estimates for joinery, plumbing, electrics, plastering and tiling; it has taken several weeks to coordinate a sequence of visits but they've all kept to time and date.  He arrived as I was recording Act I from this year's Bayreuth 'Meistersinger' and thought it sounded rather sumptuous.   Craftily, I cheated a sleepless night after hearing the costs, by placing orders for a few books, CDs/DVDs prior to his arrival.    A start date has been arranged for mid-November when my running commentary will continue in the Grump thread, before I initiate a Penury thread, this side of Christmas.   In the meantime, the concept is decidedly promising and so 'po-a-sh'!    Cheesy

As a family we appear to go for traditional "sensible" names but I have just counted up and the current crop of children in the extended family comprise 10 girls (including one set of twins) but only 4 boys!!  New born Sophie has two elder sisters, Jennifer and Emily.

And may I add my best wishes for BBM as well, we have our fingers crossed.

Thanks Bopa Antheil for your good luck message. As it happens the friend who me and MrsBBM house share with announced he was a grandfather last night! His eldest daughter(he has 2), is expecting! So he had a double celebration! Because he had his 50th birthday yesterday and we went to one of the local Indian restaurants and had a great time.

Good article, Lord B. Just been over to check it out. Lots of interesting links there.

Thanks for that, so glad you liked it, i know having so many links is not usuall in an article but i went to the bike show for off-grid and realised that it was the vast amount of information, in a small space, that was so good about the place and no point trying to type up a massive article containing their brochure information.  This is the advantage of the web over normal print, links, it is a new kind of text, a hyper text.

btw, assisted power bikes much cheaper than fully electric !

Ssssshhhh!

I'm babysitting all afternoon. After yelling constantly and loudly at me for an hour, Miriam has now been asleep for almost two hours. Naps like this are unheard of for her: I'm almost going to get some other things done today!

[whispering]
Quote from: Ruth Hamilton
Mother, oh Mother, come shake out your cloth
empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
hang out the washing and butter the bread,
sew on a button and make up a bed.
Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She's up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.

Oh, I've grown shiftless as Little Boy Blue
(lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
(pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo).
The shopping's not done and there's nothing for stew
and out in the yard there's a hullabaloo
but I'm playing Kanga and this is my Roo.
Look! Aren't her eyes the most wonderful hue?
(lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).

The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow,
for children grow up, as I've learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep.
I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep.
