With this lovely weather we are experiencing at the moment, I am having few headaches, damn it. Possibly because, it does get rather muggy, I suppose.

This seems to be another classic BBM. So, you want some headaches?

4WIW you have my sympathy BBM. I can tell the barometric pressure is dropping when my sinuses start to ache, and I can never be sure what is going to stop the discomfort; sometimes ibuprofen does it, sometimes aspirin, sometimes a walk up the hill, and sometimes a combination.

A walk up the ibuprofen? My sympathies too -- my wife suffers from debilitating migraines, it really puts her life on hold, at least once a month.

Hope you're feeling better now bbm. Have an 'a' with my compliments.

Merely corroborative detail, intended to give artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative.

I'm finding this weather troublesome, too. (Should this be on the Weather Thread?) I can't sleep because I'm too hot, so am cross. I know the temp. isn't really all that high, but it seems stuffy and humid. AND my jaw, which gave me trouble after I went to the dentist, then seemed to get better, is being difficult again, which doesn't help. AND I am furious about the Young Musician programmes with no music.
So I am a grumpy old woman this morning.

That was a selfish rant on my part. I really intended to sympathise with BBM. It's hard to have to give a performance when you're feeling below par. I'm sure the adrenalin will kick in, though, and it's only afterwards you'll realise you feel lousy.

Not so much of the OLD please Mary! Sorry about the jaw flare-up though. You really must have strained the muscles - you obviously took him very literally when he said "open your mouth as wide as you can". I swear by aspirin to take down inflammation in these cases. Paracetamol is no use at all I find. The Young Musician programmes have really been badly thought out. Those of us without laptops are watching in our spare bedrooms, perched on typing chairs or the like. Hardly conducive to family viewing and enjoyment. Roger No-Brains Wright really needs to go.

Mary, I wonder if you have mandibular dislocation? I had this once, and very painful it was too, luckily mine was a temporary one and it clicked back into place but otherwise it needs to be manipulated back. (It can be caused by dental treatment, singing or even yawning too widely).

I've been looking on the internet (not always a good idea, but I'm careful about the medical sites I go to), and I think it's Temporomandibular Dysfunction, rather than a dislocation - in other words, my jaw doesn't work properly at the moment, but it sounds better in medical language . It seems to be quite common. I can put up with it with the help of ibuprofen and a liquidiser, but I do hope it doesn't last too long. I'll go to the doctor eventually it doesn't go away, but I hate going to the doctor - it's more trouble than being ill usually.

Mary, It's the not being able to eat properly that's a pain isn't it? The allure of soup soon palls! Mine lasted for about 10 days (it was just on one side) and then, luckily, it just somehow went. I have no idea why it happened in the first place.
I agree with you about this weather, totally enervating and those dreadful storms on Friday haven't really cleared the air.

Apologies in advance to those with normal jaws.
Was it actually diagnosed as a dislocation, Anty? Or was it a guess on your part? Mine doesn't click, and it isn't an acute pain except when I try to open my mouth much - more a dull ache now most of the time, and not nearly as bad as it was at first.
You're so right about the eating. This affects both eating and talking (the former a lot more than the latter), two of my favourite occupations.
P.S. Cleaning my teeth is no joke, either.

I haven't been following the "dumbing down" thread so probably missed the important stuff, but has some idiot really decided to leave out the (nobody really wants to hear it anyway) music? (text in p'ren's inserted on behalf of "some idiot")
