I find the one cd that never fails to send me off is the Easter Sunday Mass from Westminster Catherdral, I never get past Credo III. Sorry Cardinal Cormac Murphy O'Connor, nothing against you personally of course! The Praetorious Mass is also quite good but a little too jolly in places I find. Dvorak's Mass in D by the Bristol Cathedral Choir is very good. Under MIlk Wood does the trick of course. And then instead of The Bogeyman I think of a little Ginger Man in a Brown Paper Bag possibly hiding somewhere. But then I become Gossamer Beynon in spirit and all is well.  I think it's Richard Burton's voice. |

I still do  but he'd never be able to squeeze inbetween the dust bunnies!  Dust bunnies? Also Deadly Killers Mort.  Strange, but true. The Bogeyman appears in almost every culture, someone who harms or kidnaps children in some way, I certainly remember not being able to sleep and quaking in fear because of the Bogeyman who might be under the bed. Personally, I blame the parents. Ollie, I suspect you are spot on there, comfort, nothing out there to harm you, safeness, possibly control because with the light on there are no nasty shadows threatening? And the music, it's like "la la la, I'm not listening" isn't it? Quite right Antheil. If the parents of Bogeymen paid more attention to discipline and proper nutrition, these problems wouldn't arise. And then of course, Susan Sto-Helit had a very old-fashioned attitude to Bogeymen, which usually involved bending the poker. |

I hav'nt come across that one Antheil. Somehow, though, its worth investigating.
When I hurt my arm last Sunday, came out in a lump, thats got rather big. Must've broken quite a few blood vessels, methinks. Taken some paracetomol, still no effect. Rather a large bruise though!!!! Hmmm. Rather annoying to say the least.

Hard disk fail. Not happy. That said, no sooner had it done so (and thus, my laptop having become completely and utterly unresponsive) than did the following thought wander its way in to my head: "Gosh, I can read again!" And so I did. So it's not all that bad. Got through some Calvino yesterday, while also planning on finnishing a few other books that I've started over the last couple of months but not made much progress in. (laptop is still covered, being less than a year old, so I'll be able to get it repaired. I had a reasonable amount of work on it not backed up though  ). |

Oh dear oh dear oh dear oh dear oh dear oh dear oh dear oh dear Sorry incy, mustn't sound too smug, I've been rather lax with my regular backups recently  Perhaps the local equivalent of Mort's Russians can recover your data? When I had a hard disc crash on my old desktop I was able to run some Norton utility off a CD which recovered most of the data, I was even able to get Windoze running again after a fashion. Could you not run Ubuntu off a live CD and copy your data onto an external drive? Or has the drive died completely? |

It's not even recognised when I boot from a CD. It just sits there and clicks rather loudly. I had everything backed up in early may I think. And most projects that I got to a workable stage found their way onto the internet, so they can be reclaimed. The thing I was working on when the crash happened I'm now almost happy is gone, I think I'll be able to make a better version still if I start from scratch. But it's still a major pain. Not loving Apple at the moment.

Strange, snt it, with people's moods. Band practice last night, the MD was right stressed. Got right up my nose he did!! Then, the Librarian talked to him after, she said, and he phoned me up today apologising!! At the band job we had today, everybody was aa nice as pie!! I could'nt believe it!

Right now, I should be taking my seat at Richard Barrett's fine-looking concert in Brighton. I am, however, not. I am still in Wales, car having died this morning (or at least gone into a coma), AA man having failed to make difference, and no garages being open till tomorrow morning. Quite apart from the missed concert, there are other hideous knock-ons from this state of affairs which I won't bore you with. Suffice to say... GRUMP. At least I've got a laptop to while away some time here on with, dude. |
