When in doubt, wash.

Another thought...as you're veggie like me you might not like the idea of stinky cat food in the house but the dry food doesn't pong too much.

That's another problem for me MJ - presumably your dry food is still non-veggie. I don't think you should force a veggie diet on an animal such as a cat - hence one major reason why I don't have a cat. I must say when I've been to feed my brother's cat that the food smells foul - I certainly couldn't have anything like that in the house.
The dried food really isn't as dreadful as the tinned/pouched stuff.

Merely corroborative detail, intended to give artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative.

My cat is a younger version of Pixie, ie, black with those typical black cat eyes. Agreed, the meat cat does smell foul, but then cats are carnivores, and I dont see the point  in having a veggie cat. I mean, when you look at it, their big cousins, can you imagine them being a veggie!!!!

The dried food isn't stinky at all. I alternate my beasts with wet and dry. They are also rather fond of broccoli, mushrooms, swede and eggs. I have long since come to the conclusion that there is no such thing as 'cat food'. Or 'dog food for that matter. There is just

Quite, Mort. My little princess survives on dry (IAMS, mostly), but likes the rigmarole of being served, with much ceremony, some 'wet' food twice a day. She will make the most extraordinary fuss about wanting it, then lick (not eat) it for 30 seconds. Oh, and she likes cheese. Good cheese.

I am, of course, onto her and not a sucker at all, and after all it's only 40p a sachet. Er...  Embarrassed

Eh, Mort, I won't say on here what 'fud' is in Scottish dialect (Ron ?  Grin )

Let's just do an old school joke:

Did you here about the man who changed sex on holiday?

He fell off the Eiffel Tower and landed with a fud

This is on the verge of being in "Meeting Life's Challenges and Upsets"

I will be gone from my family for nearly a month. Tomorrow they leave for New Jersey and I leave for Germany via London (specifically, the Plough).

The worst part is the foretaste of goodbye that I got today. I was leaving house to do some errands, and little ol' Okazaki came running after me, clutching my pants and refusing to let me leave. I had to undo his hands from the fabric, and jump backwards out the door just to get on with my urgent to-do list. It was dreadful.

The really bad part will be knowing that this particular heartbreak, when it happens tomorrow, will over 2 or 3 days fade into nothing for him as he gets the stuffing spoiled out of him at his grandmother's house.

Turfers, that's rough, for sure. But we'll make sure the rough is toughed out in the Plough on Friday.  Kiss

I tried ringing the Cats Protection people in Haslemere today (my mother is actually in hospital in Haslemere though she lives a bit further north) but kept getting an answerphone. They did however ring me back later - once I'd gone out of course Sad I also tried the one in Brum but there was no reply. I'll try again tomorrow.

If the CP can't take Pixie, I'll have to have her at my house, at least for a while. I've never been a pets person, haven't owned anything since I was a kid, but there's always the chance that I might enjoy having her around the place.
I'd keep trying CP.  I used to be involved with our local branch and the "Catline" was always a tricky one to man as it's staffed entirely by volunteers with day jobs.  We used to have to let every call go to voicemail and then the volunteer with the phone would just ring everyone back in the evening once they'd got back from work, had their dinner etc... So that might help explain why you've had problems getting in touch.  It depends how many of the volunteers are retired...  Smiley

LOL that really scared me you know.  The thread is down as having been started by me, and for a moment I honestly started to worry that I was getting some form of dementia "I don't remember starting that...."  Shocked Shocked  Cheesy

I've been in denial about having a migraine today. It's not my usual sort, with much less visual problems than I usually experience. My brain feels like it's having to undergo an obstacle course just to have a simple conversation, my eyes feel strained and my stomach just feels odd. I really should find something else to do other than staring at a computer screen but that requires some kind of initiative that seems to be denied me today.
And going outside is even more of a strain.
Other than cooking dauphinoise for my dinner I'm not sure what else to do other than ride it out. I seem to be quite resistant to the idea of medication ever since I took codeine for a headache and had a bad reaction (worse headache, palpitations and sweats - YUCK).
It's probably the migraine that's triggered my feelings of depression today (I don't think it's the other way round...), hence posting on Challenges and Upsets thread.
