If I live to be 100 (which I have every intention of doing) I'll have enough shoes to last me until then ! just hope my size 7 s dont shrink and shrivel up so the shoes dont fit any more!!!

They're more likely to expand. My feet are (at least) half a size bigger than they used to be.

I have about six pairs of shoes, most of which I never wear. They sit in pretty boxes in my bedroom. (No shoe rack.)

I have a few pairs of shoes... well, Lady_DHS has seen my hallway.  Not all of my shoes are as pretty as Imelda Marcos's (I'm guessing Mrs Marcos has never Prommed seven nights a week, an activity best done in Crocs, Birkenstocks or trainers) but there are a lot of them  Undecided

I remember when I was 'Oop North' watching Yan Pascal Tortelier conduct the BBC Phil. in the Bridgewater Hall. He seemed to delight in having very hard soles to his shoes and insisted on jumping up and down ALL the time , it was like an extra percussion instrument !!  Angry

They are my Promming shoes, I'm not there tonight, but look out tomorrow..! Actually they were making some noise during the concert last night, but that was because the floor was sticky.

I've been in some concerts conducted by Y-P Tortelier. I don't remember noticing the shoes, but I remember the jumping. He was very excitable and extremely fussy. We used to call him "arrogant but dishy" - it was a while ago. He has a very acute ear, so I'd have thought he'd have been embarrassed by the shoes, but perhaps he used them as a kind of metronome  Grin

I do have better memories of Yan Pascal though...

When I was a student at RAM he came with his father , Paul, to play the Brahms double concerto. Yan Pascal was 14 and Paul looked at him with such adoration throughout, it was really very memorable.

(He didn't jump then!!)

Era solo un mio sospetto

The grump is that I did not fall asleep until after 4 am this morning.

In an attempt to calm myself, I put on the ipod and listened to Martin Butler's Sequenza Notturna, as an appropriate piece in the circumstances.

I have to report that I think I listened to every note of that atmospheric piece, which advanced my appreciation of contemporary composers considerably, but did nothing to get a good night's sleep.

The BBC World Service, turned to a volume barely audible, did the trick.
