I was actually cooking for a colleague, who happens to be my supervisor's wife!
So, no I am not turning into Herr Grew thank you very much.
The CD was Punctum contra Punctum which has some very fine performances on it.

I love that Royal "we".  I have a very fond recollection of the inimitable Mrs. Thatcher telling us all "We are a grandmother".  Honestly!!!  Grin

Anyway ridiculous as it sounds, I very often use that line myself to the great merriment of all around.

Milly - hh is not being regal.  He was using a straight forward grammatical plural for himself and his guest.

A simple spaghetti tonight but I have seen on Nigel Slater's website a recipe I just must cook at the weekend.  It's onions baked with cream and parmesan.

The more I look at that picture the more I can actually taste it!  <salivating emoticom big-time>

Peel and boil onions, drain, halve, place in baking dish, pour over cream, sprinkle with parmesan, bake in oven until totally delicious.  Non-cream eaters could use creme fraiche I suppose?

Thought they might go well with a gammon joint which has been very slowly simmered with fennel (another of our Nige's recipes.)

I take it that's a thumbs up then hh?  Cheesy

I have now added the photo.

I really was unaware of Nigel Slater until Morticia pushed me in his direction, first by reading toast, then by trying a couple of his recipes.  I like his style of cooking very much.  Simple and fresh.

Any of you who work in offices who get The Book People then Delia's latest 'How to Cheat at Cooking' is doing the rounds at £9.  I had a quick look, not for me.  Ok for someone setting off to Uni perhaps?

Anty,

Marty x 39.  If I could, you know I would  Cheesy

Does look most tempting though doesn't it?  I recognise that shop front that you frequent in Western Road, what did it used to be?

Leftovers tonight. I'm just about to head out of the door so it had to be quick. Originally I had planned to make fishcakes last night so that I could just cook them tonight, but in the end I just didn't have the energy. Still nice for the second day in a row, but I did make one mistake. The two whole chillies were still intact and I thought that they might be nice to eat. The green one (sorry martle) was fine - bit of heat but zingy rather than overwhelming - but the yellow one... Wa wa wa!

It used to be Debenhams! Until about 10 years ago. It's directly opposite Waitrose, and giving it some pretty stiff competition, obviously. The family that run it has had a far smaller store round the corner (called Taj Mahal) since the sixties. Just after your time?  Cheesy They now run that one, this big Taj, and a slightly smaller Taj in Kemptown as well.

I looked up the Nige website. I'm doing that chorizo and chickpea stew this weekend, no question, and your nunions one too.  Tongue Tongue

Oh good grief... It's all over. I'm giving up composition and teaching in order to commit myself to full time cooking and eating.
