Can't decide whether to make my life easy or not tonight. I'm either eating Co-op ready made fishcakes or I'm making penne al forno. It's been a long day (exam board for 3 hours this morning, and then 3.5 hours of auditions this afternoon) and I'm hungry. But I should wash up before cooking. Any ideas?

The fishcakes, hh. Then an early night and a cooking fest at the weekend. Pork chops have been marinating here since 4pm. Soy sauce, pepper, a few drops of Lea and Perrins, sesame oil and a small glob* of honey. They'll be baked slowly and wolfed down with corn on the cob and a green salad. *it's technical.

Well, I had my cash card refused at Co-op because I seem to have spent all of my money. Fortunately I had my credit card and I will have been paid by this time next week so... (eek). Not exactly a rant but an 'oh dear' from me. I've already bought the fishcakes but I'll put them in the freezer for next week. Pasta tonight, then homemade fishcakes and pizza at the weekend (and possibly some really simple soup but we'll see...)

I cooked up a big pot of chillie last night, so remainder tonight with rice and garlic bread. Tomorrow is tricky. Wales v. Italy kick off at 3.00pm England v. France kick off at 5.00 pm Scotland v. Ireland kick off at 8.00 pm When do I have a chance to cook A one hour break between the second and third matches! hh, I'd go with the penne al forno, but it is Friday so perhaps fishcakes are in order?

Saturday will be a question of some sort of pasta doofer, in certain circumstances The Six Nations takes priority over gastronomic blow outs, but Sunday I am taking a leaf out of Mort's book re the shoulder. I have some sweet potatoes and black potatoes which need to be used up (roasted), plus a Savoy and some leeks. These will be served with said shoulder of lamb, heavy on the rosemary and garlic, lovingly massaged in of course, the cabbage may benefit from a juniper or berry or two, lightly crushed with a flat knife of course, the leeks will be buttered and glistening with the anticipation of being forked up and devoured Foodie? Moi?

I would happily pay extra to have my curry delivered by penny-farthing!

Merely corroborative detail, intended to give artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative.

Antheil,
Where do you get the black potatoes from? From an independent source, or from what we might call a high street supplier?
I'd never heard of black potatoes till I read it here - this is a marvellous place to learn about stuff!

Hi Martin! If you read back on the thread a bit, you'll see that one source for them (Orkney blacks) is Waitrose! But they come pre-packaged, not loose in the bins.

Thanks, Tommo, on all counts. I don't suppose the all Russian one will be too easy to find, but I will go searching.

Home-made curry for me tonight, I can honestly say that I've never had a takeaway delivered . Red lentil/yellow & green pepper/pea served with basmati, hot mango pickle and chopped cucumber/onion in yoghurt.

Bryn, just have a look around you. Notice anything? Glistening leeks. Black scotty tatties. Anything Russian at all? Might you, possibly, be on the wrong thread?
