I've tried it like that, but for myself it's a miracle of organisation just to even get one in the fridge for a while One bottle of vodka or one watermelon? Ah, the Moscow Phil were something in 1961, weren't they? (See Now Spinning.)

You must get a freezer Mort! They're not too expensive now and you can get really ickle ones that will do for one person. You'll never run out of veg then and frozen stuff is supposed to be better for you because there's more vitamins - allegedly.

I've got carrots and celery, Mort. Perhaps I could fax you some . Smoked mackerel for me, with something, not sure what yet. I find I keep longing for an old-fashioned afternoon tea, with bread and jam, and crustless sandwiches, and cake.

I`ve got a freezer but the only frozen veg I buy are broad beans and spinach. I just feel that there`s more carrotness to a fresh carrot, if you see what I mean And I love the smell when you slice them! And celery. Mary, afternoon tea sounds perfect to me. I`ll bake and bring the cake. Any preference? I can turn out a decent fruit cake. Or walnut cake, ginger cake or .....

Ooh, all three, please!
I am so fed up today - lack of sleep. I'm spending FAR too much time on these boards, because I just can't be bothered to do anything constructive or even faintly energetic. Comfort food is the only answer.

I did have something burning this morning - my toast! Gave it a good scraping but it still wasn't that wonderful. The bread was too wide to get into the toaster so I put it in for a while sideways then turned it round once it had shrunk and put it back in - unfortunately I then left it for the full time. One of my housemates puts his toast on at the maximum setting (and eats it that way). Have to check it every time and usually put it back down heh.

Just been chuckling at this Eating Machine scene in Modern Times: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDTVzWtsMD0&mode=related&search=Poor Charlie. Brilliant film - must watch it again some time.

Nothing burning chez hh this week. Stayed with my parents on Wednesday and Thursday, High tea with my great aunt on Friday, Wedding reception (five courses followed by a barbeque) on Saturday, Lunch with my ex and then udon noodle takeout with my ex-supervisor's wife on Sunday, Followed by dinner out with her on Monday, Defrosted lasagne on Tuesday, Ex-supervisor cooked for me on Wednesday, Just got back from dinner with two of the MA students (who submit their work tomorrow) and tomorrow, an only friend is taking me out for dinner. I might have to defrost a pork chop and eat it with mash and greens and a juniper butter sauce on Saturday just to remind myself how to cook.

You sound as if you've done pretty well food-wise this week, hh! Five courses - followed by a barbeque?!!! and tomorrow, an only friend is taking me out for dinner.
What's an only friend? You must have more than one!
