I've had red squirrels feed out of my hand before - probably in the same reserve that Mary refers to (Formby).

So have I. That's the one!

I really admire you for bothering.  At the moment I just can't be arsed.  I've just eaten a big fresh mango and two croissants.  That's me for tonight..... Sad

I won`t disturb the resident veggies here by going into too much detail regarding what I consumed earlier, let me just say that ROAST POTATOES made a guest appearance. S-w-o-o-n <happy sigh emoticon>

Well, I know more about Mort's roasties than some; but I'll spare details too.  Cool

Chez Green, it was takeaway since, like Milly, I couldn't really be arsed tonight. BUT, a mere 5 minute walk away is the finest Chinese in the city. We're talking perfect chicken and green peppers with black bean sauce with fresh (yes!) egg fried rice. And, since I'm a regular, I get free prawn crackers and soft drink thrown in. Well, not in, or even on, but you know what I mean. All for £4.

4 squid, Mart??  That`s bluddy amazing !  There`s a wonderful Chinese takeway just up the road, in fact I think I can  safely say that it`s some of the best Chinese I`ve ever eaten. But I certainly couldn`t get away with £4 Sad

Does the menu tonight indicate that you are now entering your mashed potato phase, hh? Grin

Mashed potato is a very good comfort food.

Yesterday my visiting son and I had Boeuf Stroganoff, courgettes, butternut squash and rice. Delicious.

(The secret I have to whisper is that the Stroganoff came from the Marks and Spencer Cook!Beef range - I think it's called Peppered Rump Steak Stroganoff. I said that it couldn't possibly be as good as my mother used to make (and believe me, that is no cliché), but it very nearly was - not quite - and we didn't have the maddening task of cutting the meat up into those little strips.)

Hm. Not really. Just decided that I've had roast potatoes so many times this week that a change is probably in order!

I'm having pan-fried hake tonight, with mashed potatoes and curly kale.
This was wonderful.
Hake is such a fabulous fish.
I floured the skin then fried it for about 10 minutes, then turned it over until it was golden.
Took it out of the pan, threw in some wine (no idea how much, I put in more than I meant to but it reduces) and some creme fraiche and reduce. Return the fish to the pan to reheat it.
It's slightly tricky to do all the timings for the accompaniments when the plans are that approximate but it's so worth it.

Any particular variety of kebab your Lordship? Also, I'd be interested to know which tinned fish you prefer. I used to be partial to pilchards myself. (Actually I"m having a distinct feeling of deja vu. We did discuss this over on the Waffle thread at tOP didn't we?)
