Well the chops were absolutely amazing.
Isn't it fabulous when you make things up as you go along and they turn out just right.
Crunchy crust and pink and juicy insides.
I am a very happy hh.

well, only 14 days to go and Christmas will be over and we will all be bloated kippers on the sofa with a packet of Rennies.

Can folks post what they are having for Christmas lunch, which does not involve a turkey as I have no inspiration this year. Veggie and non-veggie welcome

My mobile is dead, on charge at the mo which is a pain.

I quite fancy a duck on Christmas Eve

Christmas dinner's going to be chez hh's mum.
I imagine there will be turkey.  Roll Eyes
I don't really get turkey. What's the point? What does it taste of?
Best christmas dinner we had was roast venison. Quite cheap (astonishingly) as well.

Blimey Marty, that looks good!  Who gives a flying fluck about ducks when you got prime Welsh beef (it is Welsh isn't it?) on your doorstep.  Right, I will go and stay with my bro in Brighton.  You don't mind us gate crashing do you?  He will bore you rigid with his 3 month trip to Peru and his 4 month trip tracing the Silk Road in Katmandhu.  Bit of an old hippy, you would like him.

I, however, will never bore you as I endlessly recite Dylan Thomas .......

Oh, I am so suddenly looking foward to Christmas!  Now, just the small problem of your address ........ which I do not know?

Dear Sister Anna

I can assure you that no duck (or member of his or her family) will darken my doorstep on Christmas Eve. As you full well know I will be clad in my Extra Strong hair shirt, on my knees on the dank, dark chapel surrounded by guttering candles with only the smell of deceased Deathwatch Beetles to console me as I atone for the many miscellaneous sins of the year now cluttering my soul. I am not worthy of the cold bowl of watery gruel that will greet me for breakfast.

Lordy, Lordy, Mort.

Cross posting in the Cloisters again.

I must adjust me wimple so we can both kneel on our knees in the dank, dark chapel, surrounded by guttering candles with only .........

Oi? This sounds suspiciously like a dodgy 1960s Viennese Activist Movie ....

Behave yourself Sister!

On Christmas Day all the Milly-folk are going out to the local Italian restaurant and the choices on the menu are :-

Stuffed Peppers
Smoked Salmon Corneto with Prawns
Mushrooms Baked in Stilton
Homemade brandy pate - served in a filo basket with redcurrants and Melba toast.

Potato and Leek Soup

Fillet of poached Sole Mornay

Roast Fylde Turkey
Roast Duck Breast
Roast Sirloin of Beef
Salmon Mamma Rosa
Melanzane Parmigiana (layers of aubergine baked with tomatoes and mozzarella cheese, topped with cheese sauce)

Lasagne

Christmas Pudding with brandy sauce
Gateaux with fresh cream
Tiramisu
Selection of Italian Ice Creams
Coffee served with mince pies

Sooooooo.....I'm having mushrooms, soup and melanzane parmigiana, followed by tiramisu. Kiss

Not bad choices though I think you'd agree.  Something for everyone - there'll be 10 of us altogether, counting the little 'uns.

Anty, Anty, how can you gatecrash if I am in Wales?? Although I won't be - I'll be on the way to Wales (see?) via me mam's for Chrimbo, via me bro's in Bristers, avoiding the Severn Crossing like, on account of me vertigo, and then mucking in with the natives in the Vic Inn for New Year's. Ivy likes to wear fishnets, but it annoys the fishermen going out the next morning.  Tongue

Aha Marty, Marty, Marty, taking the old Gloucestershire long way round are you?  Know that, been there.  Scary.

Beware of dark eyed maidens just south of The Forest of Dean!!

Can folks post what they are having for Christmas lunch

I rarely plan as far ahead as the forthcoming weekend, much less 2 weeks away. Dinner often depends on what I've got in the fridge.

I quite fancy a duck on Christmas Eve

Feel free!
