My teacher thought it is useful to play on piano lid. I think it is perfectly ok to play on a table.
Were you there Bryn?

Now, which particular Alkan etude was it? Not Le festin d'Aesop?!!  Shocked

No, a short passage from the first passage of the Concerto (where you have chords leaping up and down between octaves in the left hand, maybe you know the bit?). I do play Le festin d'Aesop as well, though.

It was something ON the table which Autoharp demolished, but to my recollection, you continued to pummel the table itself, long after Autoharp had demonstrated the necessary discretion, and left well alone. To be fair though, you did not go on to play the whole work.

I don't think the table came to any harm.

Neither did my chalumeau, in case you were wondering. Although Richard's computer did cop a swig of beer.

I do have a couple of photos I could post but I'm wary about doing it without people's consent. Ian, Tommo, Richard, time_is_now, Bryn, Baziron and A are all more or less visible here and there - sorry, I don't seem to have much of A or Baz though, and nothing at all of George... Sad

Still, that's yet another excuse to do it again! Smiley

But there was that frightening moment when it looked like the Austrian Yodler might have sat on your chalumeau.

We all should be careful. One hears stories on TV and all that. May be you should blur pictures.
That chalumeau person (ollie) looks really good. Chalumeau looks good too. To my eyes it looks like recorder.
