As to cats.  Well Mary you've been lucky.  I looked after aforementioned said cat whilst they were on holiday and they assured me that it had never in its life (and it's 14!) killed or even chased a bird.  As I posted on here at the time - it very quickly brought me a mangled starling.  Roll Eyes

I only said I hadn't had a lot of trouble (i.e.dead birds), not that there hadn't been any. Sad

Doesn't surprise me somehow I'm afraid - probably trying to impress a new mistress!

(We chaps know what it's like... Cheesy)

She's a very beautiful girl Jason.  She looks like a lovely person too - nice personality.  I always think it shines through a person when they smile.  Smiley

"Speaking of keeping fit - Milly pops out for a cappuccino and a scone this morning and what does she end up doing?     I've joined a gym!

I need toning up.

I've always exercised at home with ballet exercises but it has become increasingly obvious lately that it just isn't going to be enough now to keep me in shape.  Gym looks ok.  Nice new surroundings and state of the art equipment.  Personal Trainer if required.  I do actually require this and have arranged accordingly.   "

(Moved from the Religion is Evil thread)

So right - following on the keep fit theme.  I'm not overweight but I do need to build up a bit more muscle tone and I haven't the self-discipline any more to work out properly at home. That's why I've gone with the personal trainer.  I'll have to do it then.  Sad  I can always listen to music whilst I'm suffering.

Cappuccino and scones are a bit of a weakness and I have one of each every other day.  No doubt she'll soon have me off that little regime..... Cry

Perhaps I should start a new thread "Gymnasiums are Evil".

This isn't me but perhaps it should be a cautionary tale!

Don't worry Mary.  Surely it absolutely can't be.  I just put "fat ladies" in the photobucket search box and this came up.   Shocked

Careful with the personal trainer, Milly! Some of them do look uncannily like the gentleman kneeling in the black-and-white photo you posted the other day ... Roll Eyes

Unfortunately that can't be the case because very very unfortunately this is a female. I would have loved it to have been a gorgeous young Swedish man instead.

I never thought I'd see the day..... Roll Eyes

To clarify - I never thought I'd see the day when I'd be joining a gym.  The very idea has always filled me with horror, but I can't see another way of getting more toned very quickly.

Please don't go at it hammer-and-tongs to begin with, Mills: just build up gently. Too many folk get carried away and lose all their enthusiasm quickly....

Thanks Ron and because my personality is such that I do usually go at things like a bull at a gate, this is why I thought it would be good idea to use the personal trainer 1 to 1.  Hopefully she will guide me every step of the way.

I have very supple joints and I'm used to exercising at home, but I don't have much in the way of stamina if running or having to move quickly uphill.  I walk miles with the dogs but that's at my own speed and my heart rate doesn't really go up too much.  I am also losing muscle tone faster than I can keep it going by myself.

She had some very interesting looking stuff - bikes, rowers, something she does called "spinning" which I've never done.  The treadmill would be a doddle but step machines etc., I've never tried.  I've never done any exercises with "machinery" at all.

I'll give it a go anyway.  I just want to look as good as I can for as long as I can, taking into account the inevitable ageing process.
