How about a campaign to rename it 'Eldridge'?
In my 'former life' everything was called Eric... the caravan, the car, the garage, the computer.... now my feller's daughter's boyfriend is called Eric so it seems a bit rude... I think Eldridge will fit the picture nicely for me George, thanks!! A

What a childish conversation! Let's just be thankful that Venus didn't start with a 'p'. Baz

Jonathan's suggestion would make the offending sphere Sol-7. I rather like "The Sorcerer". What did the Greeks / Romans call it? anyone?

It wasn't recognised as a planet until Herschel identified it in 1781, Kitty. The Greek name was taken over by the Romans, but was originally Ouranos, which would give a pronunciation more like Oo-rah-nos.

Hmm. Waffle, waffle..... I just noticed when I took the dog out that they were hammering a For Sale sign in next door's garden. That will be the second one that's gone up in this little block of eight in the last month. Wonder if it was something I said! That will be the end of an era again for me. Next door is actually a holiday home of some Manchester business people who only use it for weekends or the odd day off during the week, but they've owned it for 20 years or more because they were here when we moved in. They sacrificed their back garden to build a swimming pool complex, as did next door to them the other side. I love a garden myself, but it wouldn't do for us all to be alike. Not a good time to sell I would have thought. Hope the new neighbours will be as nice.....waffle, waffle.

I dread my 86-year-old neighbour moving or whatever , which must happen soonish. He's so quiet and untroublesome.

Waffle, waffle....Tootles the Taxi seems to be popping up all over the place now! Soon there won't be a thread where he hasn't visited!

Merely corroborative detail, intended to give artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative.

I don't think that Tootles the Taxi has turned up there yet. Of course I could be wrong ...
