The ties that bind

Simarly, Sacred Music. What a marvellous programme that is to. Exploring architecture and music. The Gothic era has always been my favourite period. Harry Christophers(whats the presenter's name(?), gives a very good account as to the goings on. I hope a dvd comes out.

It was BBC4 and called Christina: A Medieval Life

D'oh! Missed that. But scrabbling through the schedules I see that it is going to get another showing on Sat 10 May at 22 55. Have made a note not to miss it again. Thanks for the bottoms up, Mills!

What did you think of that 12-year-old trombonist on Young Musician, bbm? I thought he was pretty amazing. Nice bright-eyed kid, too.

Ditto.

Also, just to confirm: I'm not really around at the moment.  Working away busily on some projects now that I have some free time...

Yes Mary Chambers, i saw him via BBC iplayer. We've been talking about him on themouthpiece.com, a brass band forum, and some of the mbs there were saying he is called pixPixie Pete(!), I ask you. He was really good. I liked the tuba player as well, as i play Eb Bass myself, i was especially interested . All round good brass final.

Thought of you this afternoon, Ron, as I was following this on the backside of a bus:

Merely corroborative detail, intended to give artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative.

It's been a productive day here today.  We spent 3 hours (yes 3 hours!) putting together a colourful jungle collage for his school hall display, then took the dog out.  Tonight I'm taking him to a concert performed by his school choir and singers with Northern Brass.  It's featuring many of Rutter's most popular anthems with an unusual item thrown in here and there.  (Sounds like Breakfast on R3  Roll Eyes) One item I'm not too sure about is  "I dreamed a dream" Schoenberg.  Ah well, try anything once.....

Anyway it's quite a full programme so I'll see how it goes.  I might bring him out at the interval if he's tired.  The thing is, I want to introduce him to all sorts of music but don't want to overdo it and put him off by keeping him there too long.  The second half has some Karl Jenkins, Charles Dancia and the rest is popular Rutter stuff.  We'll have to see.  If he doesn't get tired and fidgety we might stay on.

My mother sings with the choir as one of the "Singers" who are the adult section.  Not many children have the chance to see their Great-Grandma performing in a concert!  Grin  (We were all child brides in our family!)

Mills - that's the Schoenberg of Les Mis rather than the one of Moses und Aron fame, though what a happy conjecture it would be imagining had they swapped libretti....

It's a song you'll no doubt recognise.
