unlike the handsome red sandstone of Arbroath
Which reminds me, Ron, this morning I noticed this stamp in my childhood stamp collection. First a Dough on the bus, now a Doughland stamp, whatever next?

Merely corroborative detail, intended to give artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative.

Hey Ron, reading about the East Neuk Festival in BBCMM, not far from you.
Is that music-making series something you will attend/partake?

We had a very amusing experience on the Docklands L Railway yesterday. The announcer of the stations said the last syllable of the last word again ... so after we arrived at a station we got ...
..This station is Mudchute...ute ..This station is Deptford Bridge.... idge
We found this very funny, then also realised that as we approached a station we heard
...This is Lewisham....am
It did brighten up the journey , but I have to say no-one else seemed to notice!!!

Well, once we've all enjoyed the black and white minstrelsy enough, perhaps we might dwell on a very 'white' rap lyric:
Jimmy can Crack Corn, but I don't care My enemies Crack Corn, but I don't care You can be black, white or albino, yeah You can have corn rows inside your hair I give a **** if I don't like your stair This bottle of wine goes upside your head A little bit psycho, but I know that Think we just don't say it, then I won't say it See if you don't brag, then I don't brag I know I'm bad, as long as I know I'm bad I don't need y'all to co-sign no shit You can just keep makin' them tired old threads A little bit like the boy you cried wolf, yeah See me, but don't dare to try no shit Cause you know that somewhere inside those layers A rattlesnake's right there to bite your ass And I can be so quiet and strike so fast Like lightning bolts right out the sky go bad From outta nowhere, you might find your career Come to it,... and I was like (Oh Yeah)

When is Donald in da hood McLeod going to get round to him?
In a similar ballpark I happened to catch 'On the Ropes ' with Busta Humphreys talking to someone in 'So Solid Crew' about gang culture. H was a bit diffident but the salient point from (?Asher D) I thought was that young black men are scared of being succesful, in that theyre out on limb from their peers, so they take up arms as what Freud would call a reaction formation, doing the contrary opposite.

Spent a reasonably amount of the evening cleaning up my room. Long overdue, and I might be inviting somebody up there over the weekend, so I figured it was worth doing. Finished stage one, which is picking up all the big stuff off the floor and binning it. This included all of my old maths notes (which I wouldn't have any use for in any event really); and pretty much all my photocopied stuff (except for a paper by Smale on electronics & cohomology, and that book by wassisname on chromatic canons, because they were slightly difficult to get hold of, and I might well look at them again). Next stage = pick up change from floor. Can do that tomorrow. Then: hoover.
