I thought we had a film thread but cannot find it. Anyway, today one of my absolute favourite films was on - "The Seven Year Itch". I swore I wouldn't watch it but of course I succumbed. I just adore Marilyn Monroe. Perhaps this should be in The Happy Room?

Isn't it just Don B? I now have my cordless headphones on dancing around to my Marilyn cds. I think Some Like it Hot is wonderful (have it on DVD) and have you seen How to Mary a Millionaire? Great commedienne and not a bad singer. In fact, she can do no wrong for me. Have you read the Norman Mailer book? I picked that up secondhand while ago.

For those fed up with R3 or the Proms or fluffy bunnies there is a brilliant programme on BBC2 now about the birth of British childrens comics. Did you know The Eagle was started by a Vicar?

fluffy bunnies
Eek! Ahem. Not actually scared of bunnies, just couldn't resist... My parents are having a minor problem with rabbits invading their front garden. It looks like the local population has exploded beyond the boundaries of the nearby fields and copses. They've boarded off the back garden so that they can't get round and eat the vegetables, but even so the flowers in the front garden have suffered a severe nibble. They don't seem too bothered though and they are very cute.

Considering their fondness for lettuce, I'm surprised they can stay awake long enough to nibble the flowers

One thing we did'nt seem to have time to do though was walk on Bodmin Moor. shame, beautiful countryside.

" soporific" is one of my favourite words. Beatrix Potter never "dumbed down" for children - she used proper grown-up vocabulary. I had our bunny on my lap for about 15 mins this morning - he was very relaxed, enjoying having his head and cheeks stroked. But we don't give him lettuce as it's too wet - it can give bunnies the runs. BP didn't mention that!

Merely corroborative detail, intended to give artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative.

One of our favourite Beatrix Potter quotations was "I wish to preserve them for emergencies" from Pigling Bland. It was about peppermints, I think, but can be used in many circumstances, and sounds very delightful coming from a four-year-old.
