I always look at people with a big dog like Millie. What is the name of the breed. I think it is a boxer.
Here they let their dogs run by themselves if they don't want to go for a walk. It can be unpleasant. Small dogs sometimes are even worse than big dogs. I was attacked several times.
Once I was walking on one of the main street and saw an old dog crossed the street. I felt sorry for the dog. He (or she) crossed the street and then bit me. I could not see if I had open wound. I was going to my friend's house. I run there and I looked I did have blood. After that I had to go to GP to have a shot. That was unpleasant. My friend drove me to a GP, which was good because we did not have a car then.
Why is it possible to let their dogs out without a leash I don't know.
That picture is very similar to my dog, but mine doesn't have docked ears. The colour is exactly the same. He's a light brindle like that one, with an all-black mask. Mine is prettier than that one, although it does have a lovely face as well.
With regard to letting dogs off their leash, that is ok if they are always under control. I let mine off only when I can see no other people or dogs. He can cover a great distance in a short time at great speed so I choose the areas which I know are quieter. He needs to run every day. He's a young athletic dog and he needs the exercise. Walking isn't enough. I could walk him for miles and he wouldn't be as tired as he is after tearing around at top speed. He loves to swim and there's a horrid muddy pond where I take him, so he always comes back looking a mess and has to be hosed down.
Most people around here take their dogs on the beach. I don't agree with that, although most people do clean up after them these days. I have never taken my dogs to parks or children's play areas and I've trained them all not to foul pavements. It's a matter of responsibility and consideration to other people. None of my dogs have ever attacked anyone at any time, but we have had the odd dog fight. Not at all nice!
