I'm looking at 15 down, and I can see a perfect anagram, but it's for (2,1,6) rather than (9).
Which ones do you have left?

6 across and 7 down, both of which I feel ought to be obvious, but I'm just not seeing them.

I have 15 down as (2,1,6) - and it is a perfect anagram.

I was sitting in the sunshine this afternoon at Harborne Cricket Club trying Araucaria's Prize Puzzle from Saturday 4/10 - almost finished it!

Andy, that's a bit sad.

Not really martle, Harborne's ground is a lovely place to relax, even when there's no cricket on, I much prefer it to any of the local parks etc. There were several other people sitting around the ground too. Or perhaps you were saying it was sad that I was trying Araucaria's Prize Puzzle?

7 down - Mistaken about eccentric (5 - 2nd letter of 6 across,_,T_,E)

Based on that I can do 7 down...
I think I know what 6 across is, but I have no idea WHY!

[ARGH! Just got it - for 'radio' think 'broadcast' - now for the rest of the blighters]

I have a photo of myself sitting at Edgbaston not watching cricket (as it was raining) - but not doing a crossword either. It was published in the Birmingham Post.

We've just returned home from having teenager's sutures removed.  He should feel much better now.  It's horrible when they're feeling very tight and "pulling".  Just waiting for test results now but I think that no news is probably good news.   Cheesy

I have a feeling that today's Observer was the work of Araucaria - it had one or two of his hallmarks.  Only two clues still to get, but it's been a bit of a struggle.

I'm glad to see my distant relation (soemthing like grandmother's sister's husband's brother - I can never remember if that actually counts as a great-uncle or not) is still keeping you all busy

A bit of waffle.  I had a really good weekend.

I played in a wedding on Saturday morning, on a beautifully sunny day.  In the evening, drove to Birmingham as a stop over on the way to Manchester.  Lovely evening, great countryside either side of the motorway.

Sunday morning, drove the rest of the way to Manc (more countryside lining the way), to get to the Velodrome.  Had a "taster session", for absolute beginners, which was fast and brilliant!

Then a jaunt over to Yorkshire, via Snake Pass (and a good pub lunch).  Stopped at Peak Cavern, where there was brilliant tour guide.  He was like a cross between Peter Kay and Nosher from Scrapheap Challenge.  "Come on then!".  Apparently, there's a Christmas special on, on Boxing day, involving a Lithuanian Santa Claus competition, with Robson Green dressed as an elf.  ("He's no' vury big, tha' lad, an' it suits 'im bein' an elf.")

Anyroad up, it also seems that Lord Byron visited Peak Cavern.  When he was there, the entrance to the grand cavern involved his Lordship lying on a boat of straw and being pushed through tunnel with no more than a couple of feet between water and roof.  I wonder if he remembers....?

Long trip back.  Tired.  But great time - feel really good now.

That sounds wonderful!  I know Snake Pass very well.  Not a good place to be stranded in the snow but I think very beautiful in its bleakness.
