bbm, is it ok with you if I put your post over on the IT Helpdesk in the Coffee Bar? It may get you a speedier response ...

Ofcourse it is Mort. I should've thought of that meself!!

Okey dokey bbm. I've just copied it over Smiley

It's very quiet here tonight, is everyone out enjoying themselves?

Well, if they are they won't be answering the question. I'm not out, but my son and daughter-in-law are here, and we only finished dinner about half an hour ago. I'm dead tired - not used to eating this late or even being up at this hour. No doubt it does me good to be shaken out of my usual rut.

They tell me they don't intend to find out the sex of the baby. I'm disappointed about that - I'd have jumped at the chance myself.

Might be worth having some bicarb in warm water before retiring, Mary: eating late at night tends to cause problems for many of a certain age - myself included, I'm afraid.  Sad

I'm not. But I've arrived here rather late - is everyone off to bed now? Undecided

I was out enjoying myself actually. I watched Burn after Reading which was quite fun and a little bit disturbing.
I like the way that it played with the expectation of the audience and did the wrong thing at the wrong time.
A little too glossy, but otherwise an extremely pleasurable giggle.
Framed by pints of three different kinds of beer, some better than others.

I've had rather an enjoyable mix of things today. In between composing (sort of) and buying brawn at the butchers, in a Ron Dough-ish way I've been helping a friend paint the ceiling and walls of a new extension on his house. The room looks out onto the sea and the weather was fine enough to have the french windows to the balcony open all day. Lots of fresh air, plus the modest exercise of using a long roller on the ceiling.

Over the brawn I shall draw a discreet veil.

Just off to this.
The quartet are our ensemble in residence, and it looks like an interesting programme.
And it's just round the corner...
No excuse.

Listening to Rake's Progress and reading emails - spotted a Wanted: Bread machine post on Freecycle as I listened to that last scene! Shocked Spooky!

I heard the start of The Rake's Progress while I was cooking my tea but I turned it off then. This rake is making some progress Wink

I don't know the opera really well but recognised quite a bit as I saw a couple of performances at the ROH many years ago and also listened to my dad learning Nick Shadow when he sang the role for a small opera company shortly afterwards.

Only works with an American accent.  Presumably that was written by the lovely Chester.  Or Wystan copying his beloved.

That epilogue must be inspired by Don Giovanni, which I saw this week.

Not every man
Is given an Anne
To take the place of Duty.

And Shadow's verse ends up

Some people insist
I do not exist
Sometimes I wish I didn't.

What's the rhyme for that?
