I remember being taught about Tolland Man while at school and there are several well documented cases of "Bog Men", usually they were killed for some sort of ritual sacrifice.

I'll look at that link in a second...

Allow me to recommend P.V.Glob's The Bog People, an excellent read.

I liked the story of the Ice-mummy. He still had straw in his shoes and a copper axe. Bit of a drama as to whether he was in Italy or Austria, can't remember the outcome.

Merely corroborative detail, intended to give artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative.

This is unbelievable!!  It's been dully, grey and cool here up to now.  The sun has just come out for the first time, at the same time as a torrential downpour with HAIL!  It's bucketing down and pounding on the windows, but with glorious sunshine.

Jeez!  No wonder everyone's confused around here.  Roll Eyes

Ho!  When you are 109, a state of confusion is the norm.  Now, where did I put my trousers?
