Bryn:
What did you mean by the other place is more 'them and us'?
"Them" pertaining principally to the BBC 'suits' and the out of house Mods, and "us" to our merry band of listeners.

Oh dear, 'over there' has now become a stalking ground for Islamophobia, and asociated nastiness. Unfortunately the moderators 'over there' are being far too liberal with such messages, and leaving some up, despite the pattern emerging, and complaints being registered.

Absolutely, Bryn. I peeked 'over there' several times today, and it's really quite shocking. Who are these people??

The Islamophobia thread is remarkable isn't it and there is quite an acrimonious spat on the Cardiff Singer of the Year thread of all places.
The dynamic of a message board is a strange thing though. I was trying to find an old thread on here about Rautavaara before replying to a post by Thommo and it was a little sad ( only a little, I'm not THAT sad myself ) to see how many members here who had made double digit postings and interesting contributions to musical threads have now disappeared off the radar. It's seemed a little like the coffee bar and Stockhausen board here this week. Nothing to criticise with either of those but it would be nice to get a bit more variety. But the board goes in the direction the board goes, as it does at the other place ( have a laugh at the latest Carol Kohl post ! )

It is a very busy week for me but I'll try to post a few messages today and tomorrow, BobbyZ.

I know what BobbyZ means. Sometimes I hear something on the radio or on a recording and think I would like to raise a matter here but then I think that it's not enough by itself to warrant a brand new thread. Perhaps I should just risk it. Live dangerously!

What a boring place it has become! I remember the days when you read the word yesterday after two full pages loaded with messages. Platform 3"A place, not associated with any particular programme, to meet and talk with other Radio 3 listeners."

I don't think that I can inflect this with enough stress, but here goes: Please do, Tony!Life's too short to copy out the entire works of Shakespeare by hand, run up hills or knit your own greenhouse. Lead by example, start a thread today!

The room on the picture is the Hall of Rotterdam Central Station. At the moment, they're busy demolishing it. Certainly not the best building by Sybold van Ravesteyn (one of my favourite Dutch architects) but still it's a sad loss, I think)

The dynamic of a message board is a strange thing though. I was trying to find an old thread on here about Rautavaara . . . and it was a little sad . . . to see how many members here who had made double digit postings and interesting contributions to musical threads have now disappeared off the radar. It's seemed a little like the coffee bar and Stockhausen board here this week. Nothing to criticise with either of those but it would be nice to get a bit more variety. May we make a suggestion? The "Recent Posts" display is too short. It is possible that many Members see "New Game" repeated 5 times and decide that that is not quite their thing. If the "Recent Posts" could be expanded to say thirty lines that might well present an impression of there being a greater variety of topics among which the more discriminating Member could more readily find one that might tempt him to respond.

Mr Grew, Rather than look at "Recent Posts" why not click the link 'Recent Unread Posts' (top right hand of homepage) as soon as you log in ? Whenever I click that link, after an absence of 24 hrs, I get two pages of listings which shows up to 40 topics have been posted on ........ Recent unread posts Someone who visits less frequently must see many more pages.....
