It's amazing to see how much energy people are willing to invest in complaining. The mind boggles. Roll Eyes

'Boggle': possibly derived from the Anglo Saxon Bolgian:to tremble[vb]. Not many people know that.

(And even fewer care......)

I have a feeling I've played Boggle.  Was it in a transparent plastic casing that you pressed.  The cubes then jumped about into a new pattern.  Or - am I going gaa-gaa.

Ho s'wave, you may be in your second childhood, but that doesn't mean jumping straight to senility. Necessarily.

Ho!  Talking about the "other place", I thought I'd have a look at some of our new friends (all with 7000000 numbers and 2 weeks or less Membership) as I thought there was something unusual going on.  I felt I should make a suggestion as to their "spreading their wings" and posted two messages as follows.  You may find the contents interesting.  The fact that they post on the Tchaikovsky Board may only indicate a not very wide knowledge of classical music.

"You may be interested to learn that both ameliaannstiggins and giantnormstrong first posted two weeks ago. The former 20 posts on the Tchaikovsky Board and 2 on the CDR Board. The latter 13 times only on the Tchaikovsky Board. Let us hope that they spread their wings and join in elsewhere."

"The Tchaikovsky Board is loaded with new members who only post there. Apart from those I mentioned a couple of posts ago we are also fortunate in having classical-caulkhead (2 weeks) 2 posts, strombolimoment (1 week)2 posts, manyagem (2 weeks) 3 posts, jan-buelen (yesterday)1 post yesterday, bobelmes (yesterday)1 post yesterday, listener1954 (yesterday) 1 post yesterday. I feel that we should try to encourage these good people to post on other Boards and not just the Tchaikovsky. Who knows, as they are obviously not in pre-mod, they could be of interest."

Soundwave, when I started posting last summer I only dipped my toes into the 'Proms' board, as it was the Proms that drew me to R3. So I can understand why people who were drawn in to R3 for a similar reason would only be posting to 'Tchaikovsky'. It was a while before I had the confidence to post on other boards, feeling that I had nothing to contribute in the face of such vast knowledge from the regulars  Lips sealed

Hi Ignorant RF.  I appreciate the point you make but, combined with the large number of new Members joingin (joining - though I prefer joingin) at roughly the same time, and not being pre-modded, I do think it very odd.

Now, S'wave, you wouldn't be trying to posit a conspiracy theory or such, would you? Next you'll be suggesting they're Rent-a-Mod. (sic)

IRF's reply 14 on the Classical Music For Beginners Thread probably deserves a wider audience than it may have got.

This is just a thought but I wonder if all the "new" posters (with numbers starting 75 and 76) over there were waiting for us "old guard" to move on before starting to post?

Jonathan.   Why should they wait?  I didn't.  I'm not posing a conspiracy theory.  I just find it odd.  I can't remember a time when so many new members arrived and all posted exclusively, apart from one or two, on one Board.  Just bear it in mind, that's what I'm saying.

Ho. (That's the title of a piece by Giacinto Scelsi (qv) by the way.) The same thing happened last year (maybe it happens every year?) when the Proms board was set up. Throughout its life many of the posts were by people who never subsequently appeared on other boards. I don't know whether it's possible to look up the Proms board, but I think you'd find I'm right.
