The Chinese meal didn't happen cos the restaurant had stopped serving for the night. However I remembered a curry house where I've eaten at midnight before, so we went there instead That, incidentally, was my second meal of the night, having already had a three-course traditional Christmas dinner at my office party. However, for some reason I still managed to eat as much as if I hadn't eaten at all. I hope my fellow diners all managed to make it home. I got home just before 1:30 on the night bus.

Ruth, no lasting shoe injuries I hope? Your mention of curry has now made me ravenous! Lovely to finally meet you, despite my unreliable `phone

I have spent literally the last ten minutes in a rather painful state of hysteria involving Kleenex. That's ... oh oh, I'm about to go off again... Another look? I think this calls for a very small glass of sherry.

Coming back to this page after sorting our some emails I have to admit the photo gave me a severe fright, I don't know about Martle's suggestion of a small sherry, I think I need a large malt whisky. Oh dear, I am sure I will have nightmares tonight

Morning, er, afternoon all... Mark and I did indeed make it back to Brockley OK (with a night bus and much shivering while waiting for the bus at one end and pounding the Wickham Road footpath at the other) and then promptly returned to the scene this morning for market shopping. Of course just staying at the market until it opened might have been an idea but a very chilly one. Indeed the local Chinese was shut despite its Open sign. Lovely to see you all and lovely to meet (finally!) Mort, martle, marbleflugel, Don Basilio and NB! I'll scour my phone for pics and report back.

Richard, tinners (wearing a little more than just a t-shirt) and Don Basilio discuss important affairs of state and new directions in Rumanian opera production...

...and PROOF! that Agent Gusset had been casing the joint. Was this a rare slip on his part? Or did he deliberately leave this tell-tale sign to reassure us that our security was in good hands? I lean towards the latter hypothesis.
