Yes ,absolutely; don't own them myself, but have heard them through the generosity of my library.

It ain't Bartok or Tippett or Sessions or Carter, just a voice of its very own making a buncha "Concertos for Orchestra"

He's a quirky one. But very imaginative.

I added the disc to my list, Turfan. Many thanks!;)

I've never been a fan of Tippett and Sessions, but I like many of Bartók's works and Carter has always been one of my favourite composers.

I was only mentioning other well-known composers of Concerti for Orchestra, without value judgment except to say they're very different from Petrassi -- beginning with the fact that he simply went ahead and wrote eight of them. But not ending there.

I wonder why. Did he ever compose a symphony?

Alexandre Tansman wrote an entertaining Concerto for Orchestra. I also like the Lutoslawski Concerto. I never cared much for Bernstein's Jubilee Games.

Here is a piece I'm quite fond of, played by an unlikely-looking person.

I see he's playing to a packed house, too.  Roll Eyes

Nice video Richard.

Oh, I love Youtube comments more than anything:

Quote
What a disgusting exit. He obviously wants to make a special show of not enjoying his applause, as if to say, "I don't need this-- I have just performed some discordant bombast, and you can take it leave it." Humorless, graceless, and artless.

The number's not actually in the picture but I had to post it!

I hope I don't get modded for
(1) picture association rather than counting to a million and
(2) potentially offensive content.

Please be warned: the following contains animal 'shenanigans', but I find it very humorous:

No animal shenanigans in this one. For musicians who can read subtitles or understand Franch or both.
