Please please say he is staying on as host of ISIHAC!
(I'm sure Samantha would not cope without him....)
Nor he without her coping with him, surely? And if ever he did stand down from this long-running show (which God forbid), wouldn't they have to close a certain station on the Northern Line? In advance of such an unwelcome propspect, however, there was talk at one time of merging ISIHAC with that other almost euqally long-running show known to its participants as JAM, but the title I'm Sorry I Just Haven't a Minute was thought to be too cumbersome and the thought of what Samantha would do with Nicholas Parsons was considered just too awful to contemplate... Best, Alistair

It looks as if the reduced (twice yearly 13-week) bursts of Humphrey Lyttelton's Best of Jazz are now finally coming to an end too. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7288269.stm The very last Best of Jazz is on 17 March. Monday nights just won't be the same again without those regular trips over to R2. Thanks for 40 years' worth of pleasure, Humph.

Methinks a general board "Get well soon" might very well be in order here, martle.

That does sound worrying news, can't imagine who might be able to replace him if Humph has to pack it in

That does sound worrying news, can't imagine who might be able to replace him if Humph has to pack it in Get well soon Humph from me, too. Who could replace him? Well, wasn't Barry Cryer originally meant to be chairman? Mind you, I don't think he actually wanted to do it. If they've cancelled a series that suggests that they just don't see a Humphless ISIHAC as a possibility - like Father Ted without Dermot Morgan. If Humph has to retire I'm afraid it will be the end of the most entertaining panel show in history.

We can send get well messages to this address - isihac@btinternet.com - with the subject "Get well Humph". The producer of the show promises to print them off for him.

Get Well Soon dear old Humph. I can't imagine Clue without him.

Merely corroborative detail, intended to give artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative.

Let's hope he has a pleasant and productive retirement In the same way that Clue appeared from the ashes of ISIRTA, it's not impossible that a new programme might emerge to replace Clue - it seems a much better to do that than shoehorn the remaining threesome into a pale shadow of the original? Better to go out when you're at the top of your game and leave the audience remembering the best moments - as they (ought to) say in showbiz

That's very sad news indeed. And a big shock. Somehow he seemed like he'd go on forever. (Which in a sense I'm sure he will.) Can't think of anything more to add right now. Just very sad.
