No I'm afraid I don't Tony.

As well as The Lord of the Rings, there is also an undeniable similarity between the story of Siegmund/ Sieglinde and the story of Túrin in The Silmarillion, who (albeit unwittingly) marries and "engages with" his sister.

Well I'm not going to say that you must get hold of a copy, eruanto, because I suspect you already know most of its content, but if you stumble across a copy in a library you might find it interesting to flick through it.

The "Nun redet" was replaced by a sort of rather drunken er-er-er, sung to the right notes, but it sounded very strange. He giggled a bit and just managed to quell it soon enough to carry on.

That's interesting. I didn't notice at the time but I can hear it on "Listen Again". I'm sure I would have to rush off and cry if that happened to me - one reason (of many) why he's an opera star and I'm not.

Eru, I got emailed today as a 'previous booker of Wagner tickets at ROH'. Try them. They'll all be gone before you can say 'Hagen der Grimme'.  Shocked

Thanks for putting this on the board, martle.  I'm another who wouldn't have known about it otherwise; and they are, as you predicted, rapidly disappearing despite the fact that you can't book them (or even read about them) via the ROH website and they're only selling them by the cycle.  I've bought mine from the dwindling stock that was still available this afternoon.  Now, I've just got to arrange time off work, try for a cheap train ticket and see which of my Southern friends can put me up for the duration.
