Knussen usually programmes the 1947 version of Le Sacre because it frightens the s*** out of orchestras who can almost play the 1913 version in their sleep: the orchestration is different and there's a fair amount of re-barring going on as well, to trap the unwary... Oh yes Tommo, LJ's a cracker of a fiddler: I wonder why our semi-resident ersatz aristo hasn't latched on there yet.....

I saw LJ and OK performing his Violin Concerto with the SCO in Edinburgh and Glasgow a couple of years ago, and the performances were stunning. It's a pretty intense piece the way they play it together, and I remember being quite moved by it both times.
Leila's a lovely lady too.

Any more detail on that, Ron ? I thought the revisions were minor + the point of the exercise was to extend his copyright.

I'd have thought Knussen would have cought up with the 1967 edition by now. Craft's recording made at Abbey Road in early January this year is of the "1967 edition, with changes incorporated from the original manuscript, 1913", so how scary might that have been for the Philharmonia players?

Various people are hoping he might even cough up with his Fourth Symphony some decade soon, Bryn.
