£10 per year, which given the price of cigarettes hardly seems much of a deterrent.
Which is why is wouldn`t stay at that level for long. It would follow the same path as the Congestion Charge - hoiked regularly. |

If they dared go through with it, the anti-smoking fanatics would have a very handy register of smokers from whom they could then withhold the medical treatment for which the smokers have paid many times over in tobacco taxes.
Of course, what they really would never do -- after all, smoking's so bad for you -- is to come off the fence and introduce an outright ban. They could never afford to!
As my mum once said, my grandfather used to smoke, but that was when it wasn't bad for you ...

So do I Mort. Nasty things! Very very painful. I hope in that case that the antibiotics kick in before the 48 hours that they usually take. Keep taking the analgesics m'dear. P.S. I'm as high as a kite myself at the moment but I think that the euphoria is only because the damn pain has gone at last. The medication just makes me feel ratty.  |

That's ok Mary, I'm doing ok on my own there. He hasn't got a leg to stand on and I've just Youtubed him the Tennessee Waltz. Do have a look at it.
The worst thing about that being played in the morning was that I was singing it ALL DAY! It's one of those awful "catchy" numbers....:-(
