Cruel, martle? The Inquisition?!   Cheesy

In a vain attempt to deflect such a slur(!) I'll offer an extra composer to the latest puzzle!   Wink

Weill
Quilter
Ives
Richard Strauss
Tchaikovsky

...and an additional clue in that four of the five are songs...the Strauss being very famous indeed and, well, topical...
The Tchaikovsky is, to my mind, misnamed.  Wink

Yes, September is the key, rm. Funny how the Tchaikovsky piano pieces came to have the title 'The Seasons' instead of 'The Months'.

Weill - September Song
Quilter - Two September Songs
Ives - September
Richard Strauss - Vier letzte Lieder (Four Last Songs) - September
Tchaikovsky - September - The Hunt (The Seasons)

O cardinal one, how about 'spring'?

Schoenberg - Death of Spring
Copland - Appalachain Spring
Milhaud - Jeux de Printemps
Haydn - 'Spring' from the Seasons

? Prize, hm, eh?  Tongue Tongue

A quite brilliant connection, o green one, although not the one I had in mind! Worthy of a though.  Smiley

Another Haydn oratorio could easily lead you to the connection I had planned...  Wink

Good evening all! It's been a while, so let's see if you can spot a 'musical connection' between these four composers (more to follow if required):

Respighi
Stravinsky
Liszt
Tchaikovsky

Ok IGI - is it Italy?
Respighi - Roman Trilogy (well, it's sort of Italian)
Stravinsky - Italian or Roman something or other...?
Liszt - Annees de Pelerinage vol.2 - Italy (or O Roma Nobilis)
Tchaikovsky - Capriccio Italien

Probably not...

Not an Italian connection...the Respighi is further afield than Rome.
