Nope, IGI, it's less well known, although it got Maurice Jarre an Oscar nomination.

Shall I throw in the three "extras"?  Similar to the original four, but perhaps less well regarded by some.

Thomas Arne
John Woolrich
Johann Strauss (the Elder)
Maurice Jarre

Peter Sculthorpe
Elliot Carter
Benjamin Britten

No spectres or spirits or ghosts - although there may be some rustlings.

Nope.

Most of the works are not particularly well known - they'll take some in-depth investigation...

The Britten and the Sculthorpe are more obvious than the others.

Well, I must put this to bed for now.  I will report back in the morning to see how you're getting on.

Good night!

Woolrich - The Kingdom of Dreams

Sculthorpe  -  Cello Dreaming

Britten  - A Midsummer Night's Dream

Arne  -  He must have done something for A Midsummer Night's Dream

Jarre  -  The Twelve Dreams of the Sun

Carter  -  Three <cough> Illusions for Orchestra

Please?  Cry

No, no and no, I'm afraid, IGI, Tommo and George.

A few more hints:

The Arne is a comic opera that only ran for six nights when it opened.
The Woolrich and the Carter are both pieces for solo soprano with chamber ensemble.
The Sculthorpe would be very welcome after all this rain.

Keep in mind you're not looking for a single word in common among the works.  But all works contain a word which is of the same type, or genre.

No further comment for now.  I'm a bit pressed for time today.  But I'll continue scanning these pages to see how you're getting on...

I am not crestfallen, I am not crestfallen.... Setbacks are an opportunity to grow into a stronger person.

Sculthorpe  -  Sun Music

Jarre  -  Griller Quartet in the Mist

Woolrich  -  Toward the Black Sky

Britten  -  Storm Interlude from Peter Grimes

Carter   -  Dust of Snow, one of Three Frost Songs (erf, erf)

Arne   -  The Tempest

J Strauss the Elder   -  There's bound to be something Cheesy  Oh yes, there's a Thunder and Lightning something, Polka?, isn't there.

Thought that was by Strauss the Younger...

Nice connection, George, but alas not the one I'm looking for.

The Sculthorpe is correct, however.

Thomas Arne
John Woolrich
Johann Strauss (the Elder)
Maurice Jarre

Peter Sculthorpe:  Sun Music
Elliot Carter
Benjamin Britten

Both the Jarre and the Britten can be found on IMDb.

Be sure to review some of my hints.  They may provide some entertainment in retrospect.  Then again, maybe it's none of my business how you go about solving this - I don't mean to sport with you.
