Just a stab in the dark here, but they're not all the names of paintings, are they?

Gosh! They easily could be, couldn't they? But not what I was after.

Um, no Tommo. Not chicken. (Although funnily enough...)

Ah well.  Worth a try, anyway.

I'm off to the opera now so will leave Tommo to do all the work.

Ruth,

Leaving all the work to me means we'll be no further forward by the time you get back.

No to those too, I'm afraid.

I'm just beginning to get worried about this. I think you would be pretty lucky to get the Britten and Trevor Jones pieces without getting the link first.

This is looking quite tricky!

How about Trevor Jones' Brassed Off? Or Lawn Dogs?

Nearly there on the Trevor Jones, IGI. It is indeed from Brassed Off but it's a particular piece we are after.

<Half-hearted attempt at fiendish cackle> Nope, it doesn't come naturally, I'm afraid. But I'll work on it.

Years Of Coal, then?

Could it be to do with arrangements? Or is there a word link between the titles?

Do you want to borrow these, George?!  Cheesy

'Years of Coal' it is, IGI! So we now have:

Mussorgsky  -  The Great Gate of Kiev
Julian Anderson  - The Bearded Lady
Gershwin  - Rhapsody in Blue
Trevor Jones  -  Years of Coal
Britten
Verdi

Nothing to do with arrangements. It's a word link connected with the titles.
