Away from the festive connections now, here's a set I put together a while back.

Clue to get you started, the Haydn is a 'named ' symphony

It's a theme link.

Joseph Haydn
Donizetti
Joseph Strauss
Tchaikovsky

not a queenly theme, Tony; for the Haydn Symphony, as Brucey or IGI would say: LOWER!

and in true IGI tradition, here's another composer  Smiley

Joseph Haydn
Donizetti
Joseph Strauss
Tchaikovsky

I can't find a Donizetti link.   I can't find a Donizetti link.   I can't find a Donizetti link.   I can't find a Donizetti link.

Haydn - Symphony No.38 in C major, Echo
Josef Strauss - Echoes of the Rhine Loreley
Tchaikovsky - 18 Morceaux, Op.72 - 13. Echo rustique
Medtner – Six Pushkin Poems op.32 1. Echo

IGI  Smiley

Not wishing to repeat myself, but not THAT Haydn symphony, so for the theme not an echo to be heard.

For the Haydn, HIGHER. And I'll throw in another composer.

Joseph Haydn
Donizetti
Joseph Strauss
Tchaikovsky
Medtner
Leroy Anderson

Josef Strauss' 'Jockey' polka could add to that theme, rm.

There's Horse and Buggy by Leroy Anderson, but that's hardly La Chasse, is it?

This has caused me to put on this CD:

which I heartily recommend. The picture looks blurred because it's one of those that appears to move as you view it from different angles, with a suitably-ribbed plastic front on top of it.

Haydn La Chasse?

Not Symphony No 73. So we've narrowed the Haydn to between nos. 38 and 73.... it was apparently originally the overture to a comedy.....

No 60, Il distratto includes incidental music (with overture) to a play of the same name...
