Er, not that I'm aware. This may be my first poser, but I don't reckon I'm being too obscure! Especially considering one of your interests, Don . . .

Bernstein - Fantasia on Greensleaves
Merikanto - Fantasia (1923)
Handel - Fantasia in C

And Grainger composed a Fantasy on themes from Porgy + Bess. But as I said earlier, there's no common title word - and there's a connection with some book(s) or other. Here's the list again. Maybe the first won't give such a strong clue but the last will . . .

Bernstein
Handel
Merikanto
VW
Grainger
Tallis

We're looking at books of the Old Testament, aren't we?

Tallis - Lamentatione Jeremiae Prophetae
Handel – Esther
RVW – Job
Bernstein - Symphony No. 1, Jeremiah
Merikanto - Genesis

Well done IGI! Plus Grainger's Love verses from the Song of Solomon. Bernstein could have been Chichester Psalms. No apologies for mention of "good books" and "last will" - "apocryphal" would have been next.

Hurrah! Can't believe we didn't spot the biblical link before, especially with all the clues!

Here's a new teaser. Connect this quartet of composers:

Tubin
Weiner
Dvorak
Grieg

Much better than roses, Daniel. (And I was only listening to the Moonlight Sonata, as played by Barenboim, at the RFH yesterday evening!!!)

The Britten and Richard Strauss are right, but unfortunately, the Debussy and Beethoven wrong compositions. The Tempest Sonata, I should've thought that one to, as I play piano as well.
