The ties that bind

Looking good, pw:

Bourgeois - Apocalypse (for brass band)
Tavener - The Apocalypse (1993)
Davis - The Four Horseman of the Apocalypse (which is apparently is based on Liszt's Fantasia Sonata Après une Lecture du Danté)

Goodness, two apocalypse connections within a month...is the world coming to an end?!  Cheesy

Beethoven

Turkish delight, perhaps:

Beethoven - Turkish March
Ippolotov-Ivanov - Turkish Fragments
Mozart - Rondo alla Turca
Rossini -  Huh

At every one of these [classical] concerts in England you will find rows of weary people who are there, not because they really like classical music, but because they think they ought to like it. (Shaw, Don Juan in Hell)

Well done, pw and Tony! Told you it would be a quick one!  Cheesy

The Mozart could also have been the Violin Concerto No.5 'Turkish'. The Ippolitov-Ivanov is great fun.

Well done, Dan! Horribly predictable, I suppose. Not sure about a Tchaikovsky Snow Queen - I had the Snow Maiden, although there is also the Waltz of the Snowflakes from The Nutcracker.

Tchaikovsky – The Snow Maiden
Debussy - Children's Corner: The Snow is Dancing
Korngold - Der Schneeman
Sibelius - Diamanten på Marssnön, op.36, no.6 (Diamonds in the March Snow)

Sorry about The Snow Queen, I always get that one muddled up.

Listened to the new Trpceski recording of Debussy last week and he does quite a good job of The Snow is Dancing. Rest of the disc is very disappointing, I thought.

I read that as "tropical connections".  Sigh.  No chance.

Not carnival, Daniel, I'm afraid. I don't know the Carnaval das Crianças - is that from BB No.4?
