Not carnival, Daniel, I'm afraid. I don't know the Carnaval das Crianças - is that from BB No.4?

(...bump...)

Nice easy one, this:

Schönberg
Carter
Knussen
Any takers?...

I'd rather forgotten this one was still open. Had we established that it's not exactly three musical compositions we're seeking?

IGI

Is your quartet anything to do with national anthem arrangements?

The tropics?

Respighi: 'Notte tropicale' from Brazilian Impressions
Gottschalk: A Night in the Tropics
Villa-Lobos: Alvorada Na Floresta Tropical
Chavez: ?

IGI does like his 'topical connections!  Cheesy

I read that as "tropical connections".  Sigh.  No chance.

That's the one, Dan, in response to martle and strina!!  Cheesy

Gottschalk – A Night in the Tropics
Respighi – Brazilian Impressions: Tropical Night
Villa-Lobos – Dawn in a Tropical Forest

A little digging required for the Chavez, but no more than for Respighi.

'Ray. Needless to say it hasn't been very tropical in Kent today Sad

Hmm, can't seem to find the Chavez - it must be buried in an instrumental/vocal collection somewhere. As for the Gottschalk it's one of his best known pieces but nowhere hear his best. The 'A Montevideo' symphony is good fun though, with the sound of fireworks adding a but of excitement to the proceedings.

Unfortunately, not only is that indeed a wrong guess but it's been guessed before(!)...

The Chavez was from his Suite de Caballos de Vapor: Boat to the Tropics.
