I'd have taken days to figure that one! You people are amazing. (I sound like t-p there, and no bad thing perhaps.)

Has someone inserted some sort of chip in mahlerei's brain so it can think along the same sort of ingenious lines as IGI's?

In fairness, we are both old hands at trying to outfox each other with various connection puzzles, so Dan probably has a pretty good idea how I work, which is a bit scary! My guess is that they're the same person, Don. No. We can reveal that we are Syd!!

Let's see if you can spot the connection between these four composers, of whether any of the subs will need to be brought off the bench!
Hummel Schubert Previn Weber

IGI - Is it "military" perchance?
Hummel - "Military" Septet (Op.114 - I think) Schubert - March Militaire (D733) Previn - (no idea...) Weber - Polonaise Militaire
Oh dear, mental block word, Military may be spelt wrongly...

'Military' is the correct spelling, Jonathan, but sadly the wrong connection in this case!

Perfect, Tony! You could also have had the number I Want Magic from Mr Preview's A Streetcar Named Desire.

Evening all
The connection here is a literary one. the titles point towards the works of a famous 20th century playwright.
Arnold Ireland Tippett Copland

Evening Dan,
Looks intriguing. Is the sequence of composers significant, I wonder? Let's try the old wild stab...
Arnold - The Bridge on the River Kwai Ireland - In Those Days Tippett - The Ice Break Copland - Fanfare for the Common Man

Mark No, the sequence isn't really significant as each musical work points to a corresponding play. There are plenty of composers on the subs bench. Were you thinking of Arthur Miller? BTW if it helps the Arnold is an overture.

Are we looking for plays by Tennessee Williams? Was it mention of the Previn Streetcar that set the idea in motion?
Copland - The Cat and the Mouse (Cat on a Hot Tin Roof) Arnold – Overture, The Smoke (Summer and Smoke) Tippett – The Rose Lake (The Rose Tattoo) Ireland – Summer Evening (Suddenly, Last Summer)
