Something to do with adapting works of others, Richard?

Tippett - Fantasia Concertante on a Theme of Corelli
Berio - Rendering
Bach - several examples of reworking Vivaldi

It's the Scriabin that is a bugler, I can hook up the others in various connections but so little of his actually has a title!!  Cheesy

How about:

Tchaikovsky: Childrens Songs
Howells: Sing Lullaby
Hillborg: Nursery Rhymes
Lehmann: 12 Songs of Childhood
Scriabin:  Huh

Not directly related to childhood, although the Tchaikovsky piece has an inconsequential link, I suppose.

Scriabin is tricky, so I'll put forward Bernstein as an alternative.

Tchaikovsky
Howells
Scriabin/ Bernstein
Hillborg
Liza Lehmann

What do you mean, 'alternative'? Or is that something we need to figure out? Maybe it's to do with the fingers of the hand, and either Bernstein or Scriabin could represent the middle finger?

Just that you could forget Scriabin and go for a Bernstein composition instead. Nothing sinister. Honest.

JS Bach
Tippett
Carter
Dowland

I was going to say something about guitars (Syringa by Carter, and the songs for Achilles by Tippett) but I'm wondering whether 'tears' have anything to do with it or Orpheus.

Sorry, I missed this one earlier. No, it isn't that either.

Time to offer another clue as the final composer enters the game...

Tchaikovsky
Howells
Scriabin/ Bernstein
Hillborg
Liza Lehmann
Frank Wildhorn

Another alternative added...

Tchaikovsky
Howells/ Vaughan Williams
Scriabin/ Bernstein
Hillborg
Liza Lehmann
Frank Wildhorn

Song, ballet, a cantata, a musical, an operatic interlude, a concerto and a solo piano piece all lie undetected…  Wink

The composer of some spectacularly unsuccessful Broadway musicals, Pim. Hmm...

Birtwistle and Carter have both composed Minotaur pieces (opera and ballet), Sting released a Dowland album titled 'Into the Labyrinth', um...Tippett's The Knot Garden...
