If it is signs of the zodiac rather than constellations

Britten - Gemini Variations
Gretry - Richard coeur de Lion (Leo?)
Norgard - Libra
Barber - Capricorn Concerto
Messiaen - La Vierge et L'Enfant (Virgo)
Goeyvaerts - Aquarius
Satie - Dreaming Fish (Pisces)
Michael Nyman - Up for Crabs (Cancer)
Ridout - Ferdinand the Bull (Taurus)

Congratulations, Anty. Almost a full house here - the Messiaen I had in mind was from his Eclairs sur l’au-delà II. The constellation of Sagittarius

I had the following line-up around the zodiac:

Stockhausen – Sirius: Aries
Alan Ridout – Ferdinand the Bull (Taurus)
Britten – Gemini Variations
Nyman – Zoo Caprices: Up for Crabs (Cancer)
Grétry - Richard Coeur de Lion (Leo)
George Crumb – The Abyss of Time (Virgo)
Nørgård  - Libra
Nicholas Sackman – Scorpio
Messiaen – Eclairs sur l’au-delà II. The constellation of Sagittarius
Barber – Capricorn Concerto
Goeyvaerts – Aquarius
Satie - The Dreamy Fish (Le poisson rêveur) (Pisces)

AAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!
The cheap and stinging irony is, that I was considering just such a puzzle after my month one!
And I didn't see this one!
YOU FIEND, IGI!

You did give me inspiration, hh!!

Lumme, if IGI sets fiendish teasers like this to us as his friends, what ever does he get errant school children to do to learn the error of their ways?

You should see the ruthless efficiency I demonstrated in leading the staff meeting this evening - we finished nearly half an hour before the usual cut-off time!!!

That's what the chairs of meetings are meant to do, but rarely do.

YOU FIEND, IGI!

Haven't I been saying this for months? Haven't I? Like the Terminator, he 'absolutely will not stop'.  Shocked
Respect.

Oh! I've been sitting on them for all this time. No wonder my meetings overrun.

In the spirit of anticlimax I offer this:

Arvo Pärt
Milton Babbitt
Helmut Lachenmann
Michael Nyman

A few reserves are in the whinges.

Turfers, are we looking for a common word link? Is it anything to do with Mozart?

I was thinking of Bach...
Pärt, Wenn Bach Bienen gezüchtet hätte
Lachenmann, Dritte Stimme zu J.S. Bachs zweistimmiger Invention d-moll BWV775
There must be something by Nyman that steals something from Bach.
Oh. No Babbitt as far as I can see...

This is not a link to another composer, and though the link is not a word, it is a concept that can be deduced just from the titles.

Arvo Pärt
Milton Babbitt
Helmut Lachenmann
Michael Nyman
Cornelius Schwehr
Klaus K Hübler

I hope those two aren't excessively obscure.

Haven't got a clue, but a few stabs in the dark may prove useful...

Arvo Pärt - Tabula Rasa
Helmut Lachenmann - Consolations
Milton Babbitt - Philomel
Michael Nyman - The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat
Cornelius Schwehr - enigme
Klaus K Hübler - Kryptogramm

Igi

If you haven't got a clue, that looks remarkably like a philosophy connection.

Tabula rasa, consolations and the man who mistook his wife for a hat are all philosophy related.

Oddly enough, spookily even, I was just reading about the philosophical tabula rasa today, so that was the first Part that came to mind!

It looks like we're both wide of the mark though, Tommo.

Is the Pärt Spiegel Im Spiegel? Or possibly Fratres, which I've got in versions for several different ensembles?

No, though the language of one of those two is correct for the Pärt title.
