Just thought I'd share the news that I've found the pile of CDs I lost the other week. They were in a cupboard I never use, which I now seem to remember thinking was a good place to put them so they wouldn't get mixed up with all my other unsorted CDs and would be ready when I needed them to write the article about them. Of course, it's now 2 weeks since I wrote the article (from memory, having given up all hope of finding them in time).

The city is a process which always veers away from the form envisaged and desired, ... whose revenge upon its architects and planners undoes every dream of mastery. It is [also] one of the sites where Dasein is assigned the impossible task of putting right what can never be put right. - Rob Lapsley

One of the few rules of life I have learned is NEVER EVER put things somewhere slightly unusual "where you won't forget them".

The same rule applies to putting something somewhere `safe`. Absolutely fatal.

For a while there I didn't think anyone was going to spot it hidden away on the chalumeau thread... I will admit it did turn up a couple of days ago but I didn't want to stop the madness in full swing. The replacement will come along in a couple of days I expect. My offer to send the new one to the provider of the most accurate (or failing that the most amusing) suggestion of where the old one was still holds. No accurate suggestions received as yet but of course several gazillion amusing ones...

Down the side of the bed, after you'd taken it there to reread the notes before falling asleep.

The thing is, I actually read the chalumeau thread earlier, looked at the picture and thought "my goodness those chalumeaux/s are very small, aren't they" and DIDN'T MAKE THE CONNECTION . My excuse is that this is a well known phenomenon (people in gorilla suits walking across basketball courts etc) and doesn't necessarily mean that I'm as thick as two short chalumeaux.

If it was down the back of the sofa, I fear that Biroc's suggestion in #14 is the winner.
