Eee there's nowt like a good cup of Tetleys. Stand your spoon up in it - reet good brew - that'd put hairs on your chest Ron - Charles Hazlewood drinks gallons of it and look at him! (Actually I made that last bit up. )

Whatever he's on, it sure ain't Tranqility, Mills. The Dough chest is moderately hairy, btw, and kept neatly trimmed nowadays....

I hear he prepares for an appearance by washing down a couple of Pro Plus with a cocktail of champagne and Red Bull.

Milly, thanks for that. The Doctor Stewart teas are excellent. A friend gave me a box of the Vespers tea bags once, guaranteed to put you to sleep because of the Valerian in it. Rather stupidly I forgot to put the box away one evening and the next morning I found the kitchen floor covered in shredded tea bags and cardboard. The cats had smelt the Valerian and carried out a raid. It has completely the opposite effect on cats than humans, so while I was out for the count they were partying and out of their stoned little furry brains! Ron, that sounds interesting. When you say it`s reminiscent of mint, would that be Peppermint or Spearmint? Martle, I now have an image of you laying about your teabags with a carpet beater! Thank you for sharing that with us

Mort, somewhere in between! The first time I tried it, with friends in a community café in Montgomery, we assumed we'd been brough the wrong thing because it was so minty: I can drink nettle tea quite happily (apart from the fact that it really does send me to sleep) but this tasted nothing like any nettle tea I'd ever tasted (and had nothing like so strong a soporific effect).

Can anyone recommend any good brand of iced tea? All the ones I try (Liptons etc.) are far too sweet and don't really taste of tea. In fact, I'll bet Aaron can confirm my suspicion that they taste like battery acid. Yet again, I know it's best to make your own with lemon and (as much) sugar (as you want). But I can never get it as good as I always seem to get it in just about any USA eatery. Why is that? I know you're meant to leave it to brew in the sun (HA!), but there must be more to it.

Good grief, the sponsored ads that the passing references to chest hair have produced are eye opening ( or should that be eye watering ? )

We use a brand called Honest Tea, I doubt it's international, though. That is unsweetened, and not from a powder or concentrate. It just tastes like a simple beverage the way nature intended. Ohh, forgot to unplug the phone.... excuse me

That's probably nature calling to say "what do you mean, 'the way nature intended'? Are you saying I somehow intended leaves to be removed from a tree, dried and placed in boiling water to make a pleasant beverage? Leaves are there to photosynthesise, for goodness' sake, and maybe to provide nourishing mulch, any jollies you homo sapiens get out of drying them and boiling them up or smoking them is entirely your own business... I don't know, as if you homo sapiens don't spend most of your time trying to establish I don't have any intentions anyway... mumble mumble moan moan right, that's it, no summer for you lot..."...

Though the Honest Tea isn't fortified with iron, my post was fortified with irony.
Now can I have my summer back?
