Scrambled egg fight!
Hmmm. I see that George appears to have moved on from his interest in mud wrestling ...

I think I may have to scramble some eggs now, but I'm not going to waste them by throwing them... [sotto voce]nomnomnomnomnomnomnomnom[/sotto voce]

Good morning. Goings-on here. A neighbour's gates have been stolen during the night, and being a nice sunny day there has been a sort of village gossip meeting in the road. Apparently there are metal thieves about. I told the police my gates were locked in the garage, but they made me go and check - they are still there. We removed them because they made the entrance to the drive very narrow for cars. If anyone wants to take my ancient and battered garden furniture they are welcome to it.

Some people will take anything that isn't nailed down. Around here they love to steal garden ornaments, pots - no matter how big or heavy, as well as metal or lead off roofs. I've got 6' wooden electric gates, but they could still climb over if they felt inclined. Some adult "trick or treaters" climbed over one year and Alfie was outside and went for them. It was awful - they all ran and were trying to climb back over the gates and fencing panels. I managed to get hold of him .....but they were shouting at ME! "Control that effing dog or we'll sue yer if he gets us!" The worst of it is, they could have done. They were acting illegally by trespassing, but if they'd been injured by my dog they could have taken out a civil case.

Hmmm. Ollie isn't around here at the moment and then a pair of gates mysteriously disappear .... Perhaps you should prepare for an outbreak of HOOOOOOOOOOOONING in your vicinity, Mary There's obviously a new work in the pipeline Seriously, cripes, is there anything that people won't make off with

I was up fairly early (well considering how I've been lately!) this morning but I've decided to take it easy (or easier than yesterday anyway). I'm still not showered and ready for the day but the plan is to head in shortly and spend the afternoon sorting a few admin odds and ends out as well as playing the clarinet a little (after all I'm performing in a concert in a little over a week...!).

Good morning. 'Slowly' the tortoise has been collected and gone home in good condition, thank goodness. They're going away again in mid-October but he may have gone into hibernation by then. If not, he'll be back. It's still mild here, although a bit cloudy yet. The forecast is good for this area for the weekend which means that we'll have lots of weekend tourists around. Good for the shops anyway. ( Although I think they're a nuisance myself - you can't park anywhere and they mill aimlessly around 5-abreast looking dazed.).
