I still don't see why they you tubes couldn't just  be ignored if the person doesn't want to  click on a link... a description is not really necessary. ..... is it?

But I will bow to the rules of the board which I didn't know existed in this case. ( Except that I can't be bothered at the moment anyway.)

Blimey A, what's the big fuss about? How does "the person" know whether they want to click on the link unless they're attracted or otherwise by what it's going to be? If I see unidentified youtube links on the board I assume that if the poster can't be bothered to say anything about it to encourage me to take a look, it probably isn't worth bothering with.

I'm not aware that it's supposed to be a "rule", and I dare say you can ignore it if it's that important to you that people don't know what you're posting, but that would seem somewhat discourteous to me.

I'm back! I'm fine, thank you Grin. The hygienist was very considerate and said she would stop at once if there were problems, and I could come back another day. She seemed able to do the lot without my having to open my mouth very wide, and I now have lovely shiny teeth, and a great big relieved smile like this Grin Grin .

I hope Milly and teenager have a good experience, too. A friend of mine was going to the dentist yesterday afternoon. also very nervous though for different reasons, so I think I'll phone her after lunch to compare notes. And lunch doesn't have to be soup!

That's good news Mary.  Hopefully you won't be dreading your next appointment now.  Smiley

We're back too.   He had another x-ray and having finished his course of antibiotics, the filling was taken out and the tooth left open to drain the abscess.  He goes back next week to have the filling replaced.  He was scared stiff too.  I had to keep telling him jokes and generally being daft to take his mind off it before he went in - and we had to wait half an hour as well.  Roll Eyes

You aint kidding!  Grin  I finally resorted to doing the "down the stairs" walk behind one of the sofas, then I did "going down in the lift" and followed up with "why do that when you've got a perfectly good canoe" action as per Austin Powers.  I was getting pretty desperate!  Grin

In the end, Milly, was the tooth abscess found to be the cause of the swellings that worried you so much? I think I may have missed a chapter or so of this story.

It must be strange to be a dentist and have to cope with so many nervous people, but I suppose they also see people smiling with relief when some painful situation is dealt with, which must cheer them up a bit. I don't think I'd enjoy looking into people's mouths all day Sad.

Unfortunately it doesn't look like they are mouth infection related.  The antibiotics didn't reduce the swellings and he has now been referred for biopsy and removal.  Sad

Thanks Mary.  I'm hoping for the best, but if there's one thing I've learned in this life, it's that there are some things that we're powerless to do anything about.  We just have to go with the flow.

Good news Mary. I've had problems with my jaw off and on since I was a teenager and a few years ago it stopped opening quite as wide as it used to, due to the left side sort of seizing up. I'm seeing my dentist next Monday so I'll be reminding him that I can't open quite as wide as he'd like - won't stop him asking I expect. Actually he's been quite sympathetic and made me something to stop me grinding my teeth together in the night (I'm not aware that I do it, if I do) but he said that he wears one - unfortunately it didn't make any difference.

Well Richard , if you really want to know , I am just making a point. I did exactly what another member of the board has been doing for days, just to see what happened... and blow me down... it happened - I got reprimanded and the angel didn't. Interesting isn't it?  This happens often, I have the wrong name.

I don't actually care, I just put them on the board , it did seem a bit of a change from toothache to be honest!!
